Buying good gear for the wrong reasons...

So after selling my amps, I wanted to pick up a nice od to replace my Bad Monkey. Reviews and clips led me to the Green Rhino and the MXR Badass Modified OD. If you've seen my new pedal day thread, you know I got the Rhino. Now, here's the board I'mma try to fit it onto:

Why did I go with the giant Rhino instead of the Badass OD, which would've fit perfectly?
... wait for it ....
... because it looked cooler.

What power supply do you power that board with? I am maxed out on my PP2 but I only need power for like 2 more pedals and not sure what to get.

You can get a Y connector from them to power two pedals from one tap - you'd want to use two pedals that have a lower draw.

I have a pedal still that goes between the verb and phaser and another OD just trying to figure out how to rework it all.

Buying good gear for the wrong reasons....how do you think I ended up with 3 amps 120watts or above?

Oh, and SexwithRobots, I'd often wondered that too. Thanks jimsg for giving me the solution!

It's a PP2+. The HarmonyMan runs on the ac outlet on the back of the PP2+, and I'm using a 5 barrell daisy chain that came with a One Spot adaptor to cheat & get extra pedals. As long as you don't run loop pedals and up front pedals off the same daisy chain, it works great.

What is this "wrong reason" of which you speak?

FREAKIN' great OD... from what I understand it is the same as the GR as well
just in the smaller MXR casing... either way, I love it...

Yeah... I have this quirk where I obsessively research/demo and buy gear when I'm going through a big stressful life change. When my ex was pregnant with my first son I bought a JS-1000 prestige Ibanez and a 66' Pro Reverb, along with several pedals. When I was going through divorce I bought my GH50L and a whole slew of speakers. I've learned to notice it when I get obsessive, and then I make a counseling appointment

but not until I'm done buying gear!

Save the money from counseling to buy more gear! Win win.

I do this too... minus the counseling bit.

Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't buy an ugly guitar.

I have both and, IMO, the Green Rhino sounds better. I'm sure you'll squeeze it in, good luck!

I don't know . . . I think half the guitars I've ever owned were bought based on the same premise.

why replace the Bad Monkey in the first place? It's a killer OD, you see guys like Gary Moore (rip), Bonamassa, Phil X etc raving about that pedal all the time.

Well, that's a fair question. I do love it, y'know, especially the nice, throaty quality it gives single note lines. The Rhino is much more refined, by first-impression-comparison. Hell, I may end up deciding the Monkey is better for my sloppy-arsed rawk/blooze than the Rhino.

Gotta compare some more ... before the return period expires! Lol!
