wtf though. never was a fan anyway, but that riff? serious? sadly, the last half of the song is decent. they should sound all screamy and gnarly like that all the time.

Thats not ripping off Dio. Thats wearing one of your influences on your sleeve and my bet is he purposely did it. Not to mention the vocal melody is 180 degrees away.

eh, walking the line IMO. they even changed the tone during that part away from their standard to sound like it. i mean, it was bad enough to be blatant.

in a way it wouldnt be bad if the whole song were that way, a dio tribute perhaps. but its jarring. like "hey guys, remember dio? awesome. now back to the song"

If they would have added the little turnaround that Holy Diver has, I'd call it a rip-off for sure.

Fuck no I don't dig it. Foo Fighters are watered down rock 'n roll. Dave should keep his ass behind the kit. But that song does not sound like a mimic of Holy Diver to me though clearly inspired by it.

by the way, i KNOW this shit was intentional. no one accidentally sounds like dio in 2014. not the point dudes

I used to love FF but man I'm getting fucking tired of Dave these days. And most of their stuff for the past 10+ years has indeed been watered down generic Rock Lite (TM).

I noticed the Dio riff immediately too and was like "...u srs?". Since it's Dave, I'm sure throwing that riff in there was his way of going "HEY KIDS THERES A REAL ROCK N ROLL RIFF FOR YA! REMEMBER REAL ROCK?!" since over the past few years he's appointed himself the savior of rock music.

thats exactly how i felt. like it was just another feather in this "king of rock history" cap of his.

That's one of the few FF songs I actually like. Most of it is pure IMHO

Next they are gonna say the clavinet part is a rip off of Billy Preston.

As others have I replied, and I happen to agree. It's more of a fitting tribute if anything. Not a fan of what the Foo Fighters become. The first record was pretty good, but just went to complete shit pretty quickly IMHO.
