Say what you want, but those guys had some great guitar based stuff. A little cheesey, but still way cool.

Wife bought a concert DVD of theirs. we watched it last night. Good stuff.

Old dudes still got it. They were using CRATES and STILL sounded stellar.

Any other have some BOC love?

Good players. Good singers. Smart lyrics...sometimes. Cool band. I never went totally bananas over them, but I definitely crank "Burnin' For You" whenever it comes on the radio.

That Godzilla song is badass too

BoC were/are absolutely amazing. They've got style and quirk and catchy tunes and also can bring the heavy and brought it long before people even knew what heavy really was.

i go back & listen to the early stuff (e.g. T&M) every once in a while. the accuracy of the recording, playing & singing really isnt up to modern standards (or even contemporary ones).
but the tunes are there, guitar is really good & the arrangements / riffs are quite unique i think. i also like the nutty lyrics.

BOC is one of my all time fav bands. saw them a bunch of times back in the day and then again in 2005. the first 3 albums are the best but they always managed a few good songs per album afterwards. sad that the last album of new material was way back in 2000. as for Vids their is one from the early 2000s that is pretty good that has been available for a while. their is also a very cool bonus live dvd from 1978 with the expanded Legacy version of Some Enchanted Evening. that set is highly recommended and as a bonus for me has a live version of ME-262 from one of the rochester ny shows i was at.

We did the original version (the one that Metallica covered) and then the one that was re-recorded/arranged on Imaginos. At my request too, I was a bit of a fan back in the 80s. They had great singing, playing and cool songs! I actually liked the Imaginos version.

I actually had their longtime producer/collaborator Sandy Pearlman as a professor last term. You want to talk about quirky... The entire 3 month semester he wore the same outfit, week in, week out. It was a class on symphonic music and his co-teacher was telling us that we should dress up a bit for our trip to the Toronto Symphony. He then said, "There's a 100% chance that Pearlman will look like he always does," to which he replied in his Bostonian accent, "I own no other clothing." Incredibly smart guy though. He knows so much about music and production its frightening. He was also the inspiration for the Bruce Dickinson character in the SNL skit.

He also worked with Sabbath on some of the later era Dio stuff. He was telling us about how he used to use Wagner as the pre-concert music to warm up the crowd. The idea of Wagner cranked up to 120 db is really something.

They gave us a lecture on the relationship between classical music--particularly Wagner and Anton Bruckner--and heavy metal (which is available on iTunes University under the name Don McLean) after which I started talking to him about some of the guitar tones on some of the BOC stuff. I think it was off of one of their 80s records and he was telling me that he couldn't remember what amps were used but that the tones on the record were the result of around half a dozen tracks with the same number of different amps.

Anyone know if the band is still any good? They're playing a small club out near me (Corona, CA) in a few weeks, and I was considering checking them out...

By every account I've heard, from popular musicians as well as friends, they are still a killer live act. GO.

Crap... just realized it's the same night I'm going to see Anthrax at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Have to see if BOC is playing elsewhere that weekend...

They were great 30 years ago. I enjoyed some BOC back in the day, and Buck Dharma could rip it up. Have not heard about them in years. I assume theyb could still bring it.
