I don't have gas....

It's the weirdest thing guys. I've had gas for the past year and a half. Like OCD gas'ing, playing/demoing, researching, shopping, buying/trading, you all know the drill. Ever since I've settled in with my VH100R it's like I've taken beano. No gas. I even try to fire up a browser or get interested in a pedal or something and it just doesn't happen. Before when I used to play my rig I'd be contemplating and analyzing the nuances and trying to find ways to reach a sound that covered my needs well. And mind you, I've had good tone the whole time and it's not like I couldn't have been satisfied at any given point along the way, but the gas escapes me now. I fire up my Laney and no obsessiveness enters my mind. The tubes warm up and before you know it I realize... I'm just playing... with myself. No gas.

These threads always go well. Never ever have they been used to berate someone's inevitable return to gear whoredom.

It'll be back....it always comes back.
I thought I was GAS-free last year......then I bought 3 pedals, a guitar, and my new bass comes in tomorrow

I was saying that same thing. I love my rig and at band practice I'm so happy with how it sounds
Then I went out and bought a bogner fish for no reason, Lololololololol
I want an SG, LPC and a kemper. Fuck it dude, let's go bowling

Well you know, I think about these guys... like Wylde for example. Dude's been rocking the same rig essentially for years, with a "ain't broke don't fix" attitude. It's possible guys.... it's possible.

I'm a random GAS'er now.
Dig my current set up, and have a few variations of the same rig to keep it fresh..........happy with nearly everything I have, and how it plays and sounds.
...but I still tend to get little spurts of GAS.......right now for random pedals mostly.
I don't even say I'm done, because I know that just makes it worse......

Always something new to add. Or not.
This is a hobby for me so I'm always finding some new way to mess with stuff. I gave up saying 'this is the last ______ I need to buy' because it never is no matter how good it is.
I love my amps. They're awesome. Next thing you know I hear a new style of music and want something entirely different. Not better or a replacement, but something entirely different.
Pedals? Dear lord. Bonus points if I buy a new pedal and decide it would sound better in front of ____ amp. Then restart at amp gas.
Guitars? This is harder for me. I have a stack of hundreds sitting for my ideal Les Paul Custom. I'm really picky when it comes to guitars these days because my current guitars are amazing. I've played a ton recently and none have been it. My Traditional ruined me on fat neck les pauls, and now that I know this neck still exists on a Gibson I can't settle for something uncomfortable.

yeah I don't have a lot of GAS recently either. The DSL is being good to me, it sounds amazing. The SGs are the shit. I kind of want another SG with P90s but I know I won't use it much. Same with a Tele, I want one but won't use it much either.
I do have some things I need to buy though, like a new computer, a bass guitar, some decent drum software and maybe a keyboard, so that's probably the direction my gear purchases are going this year: Stuff for the studio.
But my guitar rig is kicking ass.

I have some odds and ends that I could definitely acquire too. As far as guitar rig... I just need to figure out that buzz on my 3rd string, but I pretty much feel the same way you do. The rig is kicking ass.

well whether we like it or not, it's working for him and he's found no need to change it for nearly 20 years. I think he's on to something... seriously

He's probably afraid that his fans will abandon him if he changes his rig..........they'd have to get new T-shirts and guitar gear too.

Same here. First I got the Arturia Minibrute. Now I have the MS-20 on preorder.
After synths I'll probably have to get a drum kit I guess.
