voxengo msed - i tried it for a quick backing track hack

so i had this track that i couldnt find a backing track for & so after a 5min inet search i settled on voxengo MSED (mid/side encode/decoder) - which is free.
in easy mode you can just dial down the mid info & that will general suppress the lead/vocals/whatnot but you lose extra mid stuff like bass.
But it also allow you to encode to mid/side, pass it through another plugin (eg. EQ out just guitar or vox), then decode back to L/R.
much better - retains bass. quite acceptable in a pinch.

i'm not aware of any similar free plugins that do this well. If there are other options out there please advise.
