Triumph Allied Forces

For my singer's wife's birthday party, we are playing a bunch of Triumph songs because she is a huge fan. Which means I actually have to learn some songs.

So last night I'm figuring out some stuff on the Allied Forces record, and I gotta say, that might be one of the most well-played and well-recorded records I've ever heard. It really captures that live in the studio sound, very uncompressed and open. Every instrument rings out and sounds very musical.I found myself turning up the volume more and more til finally I had that bitch cranked. I was fucking ROCKING OUT to Triumph. It's not complex as far as the playing goes, and it's not super layered which really gives it a production that breathes.
Needless to say, I was very impressed with the musicianship/timing, particularly the guitar playing and tone.

Dude can sing and play his ass off.

Triumph kicks ass!!!
Nothing sounds better than a recording made with miced, analog instruments!
You can't get that ringing, ka-ching guitar sound, from direct recording with emulators.
Yeah, emulators require less tweaking time and they allow you to record at 3AM but, I don't like their lifeless, over compressed, lack of dynamics.

BTW, my Fu Manchu CD arrived... very cool stuff.
For some reason I though the Stoner genre was slower and more Doom-like.
Action Is Go cranked - glad I got it!

Ajax!!!!
Haha yeah man was just listening to Triumph on Pandora. I dig.
Re: Fu Manchu
For sure not a doomy vibe, just loads of fuzz and great tone, more on the surf/skate side of "stoner" I guess. Dare I say "Spicoli Rock"?

Glad you dig it, brother.
Edit: unrelated but was just browsing Ebay
Dont know if you remember these things, but back in the day I really wanted one.
Check out this item I found on eBay:

Great band and great live band.
Hope you have a good singer
Just a Game is still my favorite album of theirs. Saw them on that tour. Flawless. Tell your singers wife that next year it's Boston

Yeah singer is great but will be an octave lower and flat.

No way on the Boston shit. Guy's gotta draw the line somewhere. Plus I use zero effects so I wouldn't sound near polished enough

Well I could always buy an Aria HotWatt and stick it in front of my Classic50.

I'm guessing that Triumph used a TBR on their recordings?
Rivera's not nearly as popular they should be.... I think they sell more Rockcrushers than amps

Nah I think Triumph predates any non-Fender Riveras, but I could be wrong. That link was fir shits and giggles. Just been gassing for a TBR for a while.
