Ok, that picture is a false representation. A knife, stuck into the line side of the plug will do nothing. Unless you are grounded.

Now, a fork crossing both sides is a different story.

But either way, a little 120V is nothing to worry about.

I stuck a key in an outlet when I was a kid - lit my ass up.

I can only imagine. That kind of juice will blow limbs off or kill you.

Play the lottery. You're very lucky.

I stuck a fork in a socket once when I was a wee lad, learned to never do it again. Now they make them with little doors on them so you can't stick shit in there. Mother fucking tamper proof receptacles are turning our kids into pussies.

The voltage isn't what kills you its the current, usually you won't die from just a voltage hit, but if theres any draw on it all it takes is .1 amps really to kill you

I didn't know shit about multimeters and tried to measure 220Vac voltage with the probe placed in the Current plug. Boom!

Well i was in the camping isle [see where im going with this"? There was a very tall rectangle battery standing straight up & down with 2 flat contacts on top ... so i put my tongue on top and SNAP !!! It arced on my mouth and i almost passed out, a guy that worked there came up and asked if i was alright. It was a 12 volt lantern battery.

Im happy to say ive never repeated the performance.

Explains a lot. :D

To anyone who hasn't worked with. A little knowledge and experiencemakes you dangerous. A lot makes you a wizard.

I miss the trade really bad.

I worked doing residential stuff until the economy tanked. That's when I took my current job in a water plant. I'm trying like hell to get back into the trade. But the economy isn't quite there yet. I think this sring it'll happen. Even if I have to take a paycut.

Happiness is way more important to me.

Yeah, the unions aren't faring as well as the privateers around here. I've heard the Halls are not busy at all. Thankfully, there are a lot of old structures, harsh fire codes and old money around here. So I know I'll get back in.

Youngblood, wow. just wow. I've done sidework where I have had to backtrack and fix the work of fully licensed journeymen. I mean it was a total shitshow. Like he was making it up as he went along. Thankfully, I got it straightened out before anything burned.

yeah when thye renovated our place, built in the 80s, so not even terribly old, they didnt think to upgrade any of the wiring. had them come out for a different kitchen issue, arcing and sparking on the outlets, to discover one had arced and burned like 6" up the wiring in the wall. luckily it stopped there and didnt catch anything.
