VST chain to emulate EH "Epitome" freakiness

I was really impressed a few months ago with some of the really original ambience sounds in the EH demo video of their Epitome pedal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcaRDEQ ... lpage#t=56

However spending $400-ish on a stompbox simply isn't happening for me.

Usually my morning 'wake-up' idea is often the best idea I'll have all day. This morning I realized that we could simply chain some free VSTs together and play around with all the same parameters found in the stompbox. I haven't tried them yet - but that's what I'll be doing tonight !

Well - THAT was weird enough even for me. The octaver is excellent at doing the 18 string guitar and with reverb added does cathedral organ stuff, but it rapidly starts pumping and breathing from the compression in the VSTs fighting each other.

Clearly the stompbox's advantage is that its FX levels are already properly balanced in the hardware. A VST emulation of the Epitome works in a basic way, but I need to find a trio of flange/verb/octave that ALL have MUCH less compression in their models.

:freak: I need a beer.
