My favorite cleans

For some reason I love the cleans Kurt Cobain ended up with on Nevermind. Also I guess Dave Grohl had similar tastes, as I really like the cleans on Foo Fighters albums as well. However I think most cleans Kurt got were from Mesa Studio .22's apparently? I see AC30 and other amps on his gear list.. Anyone know?
