So I sold 3 of my 4 amp heads on ebay, all in one 10 day period (and for decent prices, may I add). I was keen enough to keep the box and packaging for one, but I still need to pack the other two up so I can ship them off. Where can I get boxes and packaging without spending too much. Yeah, I could go to the UPS store, but I'm not really interested in paying $120 for plastic and cardboard. Thanks.

Google box stores in your area. I made a double wall setup for the plexi I sold draelyc for like $30 or something like that. Just buy some boxes, cut them to fit and hot glue together.

Just wrap some newspaper around the headshell.

Go to a local wholesale warehouse of some sorts, auto/electric/plumbing whatever and see if they will give you some boxes. Usually they have a shit load of boxes of all sizes that get thrown out, and most times are more than willing to give them away.

I was thinking about running by costco, Im not sure if they would have anything or not, but it wont hurt to look.

Look for computer boxes. They are often double walled and should be about the right size.

fedex has a golf club box that works great.

i've come to the conclusion that just taking the amp to them to pack & ship is totally worth it. by the time you buy the packing materials and pay to ship it, you spend about as much as having them pack & ship.

A little tip if you're looking for really cheap padding for packing amps to ship: Home improvement stores sell rolls of laminate flooring underlay super cheap. It's thin, but you can use several layers to make it as thick as you want.

You can get all this stuff for free if you just ask around.

Tell them you need boxes...they'll walk you out to the dumpster...take a few and build your own box. Make sure you use some good padding between the amp and the boxes.

Already went to GC, they said they only have them when they get stuff off the truck on tuesdays and fridays :/

They're a little long, so you have to cut them down to size. Also, depending on the size of the amp, this might fit it:

Good suggestions. If you live near an autobody shop, check there. They probably have a ton of big thick cardboard boxes. Might even have a cardboard dumpster to scavenge from. I know my work does.

I always use to dish packing boxes and put two together and it ends up double boxing the amp. I have yet to have any issues packing this way.

When I use to sell a bunch of gear on eBay I use to just hit up the dumpsters at local music stores. Gc or Sam ash use to have plenty of factory amp boxes along with foam inserts etc for safe shipping. Just make sure it didn't rain anytime as the moisture can fuck the amp up even though box looks dry. I just shipped a jmp out and was in a rush and used kinkos/fed x store and it was $114 just to single box and ship amp ground which sucked but had to do it.
