Has anyone ever put a R4 nut replacement for a R3 . I know the R3 is 12" radius and the R4 is 10" but the R4 has a slightly wider string spacing and the R3 is kinda tight for ma phalanges .

I believe the only difference is the string spacing. They are both the same width of 1 11/16.

yes they are the same width but also have a different radius from what I've read , I don't think will be too much an issue but we'll see .

Bound or unbound neck? High E might be close to the edge of the board, but you can get used to it.

it's unbound and a good point , I'll have to try it , should be a quick test .

this worked great , the pros & cons
Has a slightly wider spacing and the reason I did it but very very small difference I almost thought they were the same . However the second I played it , it was noticeable and perfect for me . So if you think these guitars have a tight spacing at the nut this would cure that . The cons would be that it is a 10" radius vs the 12" of the original this did ever so slightly raise the action at the nut , and with the compound profile you will see the difference , it still plays like a dream though so for me it's a fair trade off . The German replacement part dropped right in .
