There's one locally for fairly cheap, in the 2x12 combo format. Anyone owned one? Played one? Heard one?

Different JTM
I had a 1x12 combo - as long as you keep the tubes cool they sound pretty damn good. a better than usual marshall clean, and nice crunch.
I really couldn't bond with the G12 Anniversary speaker, but 2 of them may have been a big improvement. If it's the same speaker I had - it is really a re-badged G12M-70.

I have a JCM600 head, which is the same amp, just in a different housing (and obviously not a combo)
It sounds awesome. Really good clean channel and a nice good crunch to it.
I use a fan to keep the guts cooled down as heat issues were a problem on the 600s and from the sound of mamberg's post the JTM60 as well.
Don't know what speakers are in it or anything but it should make for a good rock n' roll combo if you're looking for a Marshall to add to the stable.

those combos get HOT. i've seen a few different failures that resulted from the insane heat buildup, and that was just the JTM30. EL84s need significantly more ventilation than that amp provides IMO.
doesn't sound bad, though.

Do the JTMs have the tubes mounted horizontally as well? The JCM600 head is that way, and unlike the Peavey ones, they didn't put an internal fan in them.
Mine stays plenty cool with a fan on it, but yeah, the heat problems with that series was a big issue.

I love those combos! Pretty easy to install a fan to keep em cool, too. Seriously, pretty much my favorite Marshall.

Yes - and right under the pcb.

The 600 is identical then. There was MAJOR heat coming through the top vent until I put the fan on it. Then just nice cool air. Strange they didn't add one to the design.
My Bravo has horizontally mounted tubes and are enclosed in a metal case, but it has a fan built in that powers on when you flip the switch. I always check to make sure its still working cause that lil sucker will get HOT if it ever cuts out.

I really liked the way the jtm30 sounded but that series was plagued with reliability problems with the 30 more so then the 60. For some reason I didn't think the 60 sounded as good though. They later rebranded the 60 as a Jcm 600 due to all the problems with that series. If you can pick it up cheap then go for it. They were uk made and had uk made Celestion/Marshall heritage speakers that sound great and the looks if those amps is cool also. Just try to play it for a while first as my 30 would have volume swells and dropouts after around 25 minutes of use.
