"blind comparison"
This isn't anything scientific, and there is no need to post the "duh, you set the amp to sound best with any pickup" crap...I just turned on my EVH 5150 50 watt into a Diezel 4x12 and miked it up.
the red channel settings are:
Gain: noon
bass: noon
Mids: 10:30
Treble: 1:30
Presence: 1:30
Cab is miked where the dustcap meets the cone, so not a super bright tone.
Double tracked.
the order of the mixed tracks isn't the same as the solo'd tracks.
the mix may suck, I just kinda threw it all together, but with the same settings on a high gain amp, you can hear some differences, and what those differences are was the point of the comparison.
As with anything, you can change the amp settings to match the pickups and tones you want, but then it makes it hard to directly compare all the pickups using standardized settings...I only post that because for some noobs that seems to be a sticking point. IMO it's harder to tell differences when you use different settings for each pickup, thus the reason the amp controls are static for all 3 clips.
