It does seem expensive compared to US prices, guess it depends how bad you want it. Have you tried one of these guitars? I had a go on a couple of different artist models back in the early 80's, while I thought they were ok, they didn't blow me away, I think I would only be interested in acquiring one if it was at a too good to refuse price.

MIJ, budget, twin cutaway? Have you considered Yamaha SG's? you could pick up a good condition SG1000 for about £700-800, or a SG2000 around a grand.

And welcome to the forum :welcome:

hi thanks i read up about this model and the general consensus is that its a real nice guitar with the addition of a great eq system that seems to enhance its tonal quality no end. i think the price is £900-£1000 is about right for u.k. where we have a much smaller pool of guitars to fish from. the most basic greco will set you back £400-£500 anyway as soon as i posted some pics of it on the greco site and asked questions about it the ad disappeared so i guess its sold. i dont think i ever was prepared to pay that much for a heavy guitar like the sg series i dont feel comfortable with back breakers having said that there is a artist 2618 1978 on the same site for £800 o.n.o and they weigh in at 3.7 kgs which is ok also a nice model with better quality than the ar series they brought out in 1979 which used cheaper materials i read

Yamaha SG'2000s are around 4.3kg or 9.5lb, so only 1&1/3lbs heavier than the ibanez. Good luck with the search.

thanks to everyone is this a yamaha site or do you guys just like double cutaway yamahas ? im into proving that you dont need a gibson/fender and want to prove to myself that guitars can still be bought for under 400 dollars that will compete with the top two guitar manufactures .....im currently trying to find out all i can about the washburn wp-series l.p copies m.i.j late 80s washburn have disowned them so theres not much info out there
