Tough call for sure but being an old school thrasher, my choice is Exodus- Exhibit B, The Human Condition.

If reissues count, definitely Dopesmoker by Sleep.
Otherwise, too hard for me to say. Maybe Obzen by Meshuggah? Idk, my music taste is too varied to pick one

Hard for me to rank records, but one that kind of caught me off guard was Orchestra of Wolves by Gallows. Good shit.

I almost picked this one, just because it came out of nowhere and was so shockingly good, but ended up giving it to the Tripykon album by a hair.

Not a chance. I couldn't even pick a single "best" from last year.
I like way too many styles of music to call anything best outside of a specific album from a specific artist's discography.
