I need to recone a EVM12L and v30 and i was thinking of getting them reconed with hemp because i already have multiples of both with standard paper cones. I know i can get the v30 done but im not sure about the EVM.

What say you GABlings, anyone have a normal coned speaker that they reconed in hemp?

Well, I'm interested, but don't really have anything much to add.

From what I know, but I have no experience, a hemp recone is supposed to give a bit of a warmer sound. For the V30 I can see that working, but I'm not sure if the EV needs warming up IMO.

Then again, if you've got a few of each anyway and you don't give a shit... why not?

I could ask my local speaker guy. He just happens to be an EV fan, plus, he does work for Billy Gibbons.

I would appreciate that, i think it might be an interesting idea.

Im thinking it might kill some of the highs and make it a little less hi-fi sounding, both of which i would welcome.

Well yeah, I suppose if you'd like a warmer EV then it's probably worth a shot. Personally I love the EVM12L the way it is, so I guess that's where our opinions on the hemp option differ.

I love it for super cleans and some high gain but not so much with anything else. Maybe a hemp cone will fill in the other areas.

I did this once. Afterwards, all the EV was good for was eating potato chips and giggling at Family Guy for hours.

talked with my guy. He doesn't know of any hemp cones out there that will be the correct dimensions for a recone.

You might ask around though.
