Some interesting Amps..Probably even WORLD'S FIRSTS

Both of these are built by Pheo Guitars....I never heard of 'em either. The clips of the first one on their website actually sound pretty good.

Hair Raiser

This amp uses a fifties hair drier as the speaker cabinet and stand. The drier houses a Mojo BB10G, 16 ohm ceramic 10, surrounded by balsa. The head is a revoiced Raymer with two EL84’s, two 12AX7’s, and an EZ81 rectifier. Controls are volume and tone. This head has a great clean tone as well as the breakup and howl we’ve come to expect from EL84’s. You can also use it as a hair dryer, though the sound dries your hair quite slowly. $2100

Tropic Chili Bar

The housing actually was for cooking chili and for warming bowls. I've replaced the chili pots with two 4 ohm ceramic 8's, a Blue Marvel and a Danelectro. The head is a fifties McGohan with two 6v6's, two 12AX7's, and a5Y3 rectifier, maybe 15 watts. Controls are volume, treble, and bass. I originally built this amp for looks but it turned out to have one of the prettiest clean sounds of any amp I've built and you can push it into enough overdrive to get scary. The Pheo sign is a hinged, retractable reflector to redirect the sound from the speakers forward. $2500

Hm interesting. I love it when people make cabs and amps out of weird stuff like that, but the cabs never sound right. The wooden box is still the best sounding cab construction IMO

The clips of that hair dryer actually sounded pretty good, honestly. Here's one.

That...is great. Makes we want to go and check the classifieds for a Peavey Wiggy.

Another one. This one's made from an old vacuum cleaner. The speaker is in the top part, and it all closes up and looks like a normal.....err....a vintage vacuum cleaner.
