I heard one of the VM's this "gf" left to Te'O on I think Jim Rome's show last week.
I couldn't tell it was a dude, not even close. It was really really fkn weird.

My ol lady said she heard it & she thought dude sounded more like a girl than she does.

What's amazing to me is that there are still people out there who think he was the victim of the hoax and not one of the perpetrators. Before the truth came out, he made a number of statements about having met her in person when Notre Dame played Stanford a few years ago, and talked about having visited her in Hawaii. Now, after the fact, he claims that he never met her in person and only exchanged phone calls and emails/instant messages with her, and expects people to believe that he was the victim of someone else "catphishing". He clearly was involved in orchestrating the whole thing, probably because he knew that the media would eat it up and he would get a ton of media coverage (which is exactly what happened).

To me, the only real question is whether or not he did it solely for the media coverage, or whether he is gay and needed a good cover story to keep people off his trail (which would explain why his father was under the impression that Manti visited his imaginary girlfriend in Hawaii). He's a mormon, and they are known to persecute homosexuals, so it's very possible that he is gay, and did what he did to keep his family and/or church from realizing that he was gay. If he were gay and they found out, his whole life would be turned upside down, so it would make sense for him to do something as risky and deluded as making up a girlfriend, because the alternative would be getting kicked out of his church and possibly disowned by his family.

Yeah. I've thought that it may have been a cover too. My wife said when it started up on the news that she thought maybe it was to cover being gay
