It just sucks that the bottom feeds so well. I work in the profession, but luckily I work for a lawyer who has a decent amount of integrity.

Yeah. We're covered up with injury lawyers here as well. Especially river injury lawyers.

a shame.

What alot of folks dont realize, is that people who end up with big $$ from injury law suits, end up broke within a couple years of getting their money.

Yeah, this is definitely true. We have offshore injury attorneys here out the ass. I swear I trip on one every time I go to the bathroom. And they're the ones who really make the money. The plaintiffs get a nice chunk of money, but they're medical bills/prescriptions are usually enormous and ongoing for years. My dad got hurt offshore about 30 yrs ago and has had dozens of surgeries, still has to see doctors constantly and has been on some of the strongest pain medication available since I can remember. The fucking long-term effects of that shit on someone is not fun to witness.

Yeah.

That stuff kinda bothers me. Men with legitimate injurys..I have no problem with. They should be compensated to the fullest extent possible.

Ones with Bullshit injurys / people who go out & LOOK for lawsuits...there's a place in hell for them.

The River industry has fed me & kept a roof over my head my whole life. I work in the River Industry, as well as my father. He started working on tow-boats when he was 16 years old. He bacame a lower mississippi river Capt and did that for most his life (he's VP of operations for a smaller outfit now).

It sickens me that vultures prey on our industry. every dime handed out over a frivelous (sp?) injury suit, is a dime that a company cant give to a GOOD man who's a good employee, that is trying to better himself / take care of his family.

I really hope this doesn't go through and set a precedent.

I'd hate to have a class action lawsuit at my door for delivering fewer inches than advertised.

When you have a disappointing sandwich you don't want a criminal lawyer, you want a CRIMINAL lawyer.

It's a scary precedent. Could you imagine everyone suing grocery stores for weight on products?

"I didnt get 12 oz. of lays. I got fucking 11"- boom lawsuit

"My gallon of milk only contained 11 cups"

"My bag of carrots was only 15.5 oz."

Fuuuuuuuu. On our packaging we put the weight of "Product plus packaging." But even then, we weigh by the pallet. So if a pallet weighs what it should, then off it goes as per USDA rules.

In that pallet you could have a 1.5 lb tray or a .5 lb tray inside a 8 lb box on a 1,600lb pallet (again, we weigh the pallet) What the fuck. All it takes is one guy to get a shorty tray in a box on a pallet and I'm sued now?

I'll tell the. It's the store's fault. They bough a pallet, we sell pallets. As soon as we're weighed in and sold its their problem.

other restaurants are feeling the results of this going down as well. the company i work for has changed a few recipes so that things can be marketed as "the 4 pounder meal deal" n such so that way we don't have to worry about ghey shit like this going down.

McDonald's added that disclaimer after it got sued. "1/4lb of beef weighed before cooking" can be seen at the bottom of the screen.
