Nice!
FWIW, (Excelsior)Diamond lathers differently from (Reserve) Waves.
It won't be stringy. It also won't go on in as thick of a layer. However, it goes on in a picture perfect layer of the smallest bubbles imaginable. Then, it will shave equally good (or better, just depending on the day) It doesn't need quite as much water as the reserve base.
You will love it though. I guarantee it. Unless you hate the smell of baseball, then you're out of luck.

The daycare chicks loved the diamond smell that had transferred onto my baby from my aftershave.
BTW, Waves haunts my dreams. I go back and forth on the scent, but it's haunting. It's my childhood shaving journey wrapped up in a jar. My life flashes before my eyes when I use it. My Dad isn't a crazy shaver. He's also quite reserved, and small in stature....But....He wears some formidable fragrances. It's like Robin Hood fearing his father's sword. I'm building my way up to the kind of stuff he wears, and Waves fits into his realm. He wears Fine American Blend which is a wicked strong Yves St Laurent Rive Gauche clone. Like powdery barbershop fougere mixed with Waves. An atomic bomb of masculine. The kind of thing that would make my wife leave me. I bought the cologne and keep it in a closet at work. I don't think I can wear it. I handled the bottle, and my hands smelled like it all night.

It's so cool seeing my Grandfather's picture on the interwebznet!

Really glad you guys are digging the Old Salt.
I'll be making a new batch soon and it may be time to step up the quality of rum, from Sailor Jerry to 5 year old, Rhum Barbancourt.

Dude Waves makes me think of shit that's out of style, like Affliction/True Religion clothes; bedazzled shit with big pockets and shit like that.
It's weird, I dunno why it makes me think of that stuff but it does. Also reminds me of Girbauds for some reason, probably because that's what I was wearing in the 90s.
I go back and forth on it, but yesterday I shaved using it with the Karve, then splashed the AS and had to run out for a bit....got back into the car and I actually thought it smelled great following me in, and from what remained in the car.
I hear what you're saying about making your wife leave you tho...there was some TOBS Rose type stuff in the shave shop when we went and she tried to talk me into using it; I tried to talk her into some crazy RR shit and neither was bought lol

I think it's cool too bud.
This is my grab when I go to Uncle Walter or Stupa; it's also my grab when I fuck my face up because it doesn't seem to burn like all my other stuff does lol
Thanks again!

I love the bottle design. Seriously. Show me a bay rum that looks that cool.
I need to get it back into the rotation. Maybe, I'll take it to Myrtle Beach and use it all week since I'll be at a beach.

Shit. I need to plan my travel rig!

Woke up this morning, getting ready for work. Bleary eyed until shower is over and then remember to feel my face.
Probably a 6/10 on a smoothness scale. No need to shave today I’m thinking.

Received my Wilkenson Sticky, Leresche and a free, bonus Gem Micromatic razor yesterday - all for $50.
Never owned a Gem razor and I'm expecting an interesting shave... even though it looks extremely dangerous.
I have to give them an alcohol bath and a good cleaning first.
From what I understand, the Sticky got it's name because, the handle doesn't get slippery when wet.
The Leresche is an "old style" open comb from around the 1930's and the Gem is a twist-to-open.
The Gem looks like it was once in pretty crusty shape - whoever did the restoration, did a nice job.
The Sticky completes my vintage collection and I shouldn't need any more old razors.... hopefully!

Delayed post SOTD:
Killer one today.

Just got done with my office audit. Wheewww. All fine.
Rocking the B plate safety bar Karve. ALMOST too mild. I wonder what that A will feel like. Still shaved GREAT though.
Gillette Blue Platinum. Nuff said.
RR 24 Barrel Pure Badger. New favorite brush.
B&M Hallows. This is apparently a unicorn. Got it from Mini Moustachery in Stein's area. Awesome scent. Typical great lather and shave from a B&M.
Chatillon Lux TSM Fougere. Wore this because I figured I could layer on my B&M Fougere Aromatique. I did. I smell great.
10/10.
BTW, took a pic through my PGO-7 scope for no reason.

Stein,
I forget what your Karve situation is. Let me know your inventory. I may be able to trade/sell you some plates depending on what you have/have on the way.
Here's my complete lineup, and I'm still not positive what I want to keep on a permanent basis:
4" handle
3" handle - keeping this for sure
2 top caps
A safety bar - might try this tomorrow
B safety bar - possibly too mild for me
D safety bar - pretty much perfect
D open comb - not as fun for me as D SB.
E safety bar - possibly too aggressive

Have the 3” handle and keeping that one, and just grabbed the C plate SB.
I don’t know that I need anything else; I shaved yesterday about 2pm and it’s over 24 hours later.
I could shave, and probably will as P has been out of town since Monday and is returning tonight, but I don’t NEED to.
That shit yesterday was probably the best shave I’ve ever had, physically.
No cuts or weepers, fully BBS everywhere, even under my jawline which no razor has ever gotten smooth for this long.
The more I felt my face today, the more amazed I got.
What I have going on now is probably 6-8 hours after a SLOC shave.
That thing is a gnarly badass.
Do you have a C coming in too? Interested to see what you think compared to the D.
Also, are you going to grab one of the SS’s? Wonder if the plates would be interchangeable...
Yesterday’s with a Super Max Blue Diamond was sick; I still don’t know if it’s these blades or the razors; I stuck one in the SLOC over last weekend and it pretty much murdered the beard. Was awesome.

So I went same shave as Monday, Waves, Karve, etc
I really don’t think I’m using enough water for the BM, this is twice in a row I’ve cut myself using it. Zero fucks yesterday with the Stupa, lather was huge and protective. I did change my grip once and that’s when it happened; I got all cocky because yesterday’s shave went so well and I was on that audible line, I figured I could just zip along.
Was thinking about what you said about the differences between the bases and ended up using a LOT more water but I feel like it still wasn’t enough. I do have a lot more practice using the TFS stuff, maybe I’m just used to it.
Oh well, see what happens next time.

Cryptic Diamond message??? Hmm. I hope you like it.
SOTD:
Great one today!

Starting to really like the Blackbird safety bar. I think I just like the shorter handle, actually.
The Shannon's Lady Luck smells like Cookie soap. I love it. Awesome lather. awesome slickness.
Aftershave: Le Grand Chypre. I keep going back and forth on this. Some days, it's too peachy. Some days, it's beyond perfect. Today, it's perfect. It's the first warm morning since September. I may have to get the Chypre Aftershave or cologne.
Also, I'm wearing my Fougere Gothique sample EDC. It may be a bit heavy for Spring, but ddamn, it smells good.
Today: 10/10. no question. Good blade + Good Soap+ Good Aftershave = Good Everything. Plus, my new Brush still keeps me happy.

Didn’t mean to be cryptic, just meant was supposed to be here tomorrow and it’s OFD today, and that I’d hit it and report back later.
Blackbird is fuckin sexy dood

Day 4 with the Karve and some newly acquired Diamond....thanks for the rec, Gene. For the record, I like this base a lot better than the one that Waves is made of. This is way easier to use and feels a lot more protective.
Dude this scent is amaaaaaaaaaazing. The more I smelled it, the more I wanted to shave with it. This is definitely going into reg rotation all summer. I like this shit so much I ordered the AS right after the shave.
Karve is a badass....newly acquired 7 o'clock Black in there, first shave with those. I'm liking Gillette a lot lately. Took more time, no cuts, no weepers, didn't even open the one from yesterday. 2 pass BBS, no touch ups needed.
Thinking after I get used to the angle I might go up another plate to a D just to see.
I'm gonna go 9/10 because I don't wanna seem suspect/honeymoony and because of the fact that the AS I hadn't ordered yet wasn't there to match it.
I can't wait to try that combo.

Awesome! Yeah, the Excelsior base is really nice, and Diamond is AWESOME.
On the reserve waves, try loading the brush less next time. as soon as you see strings, STOP. and Start adding more water.
FWIW, maybe your water doesn't work with it, because I will always vouch for reserve working well if you get it right.

Yeah could be too much soap, I’ve been adding trying to get it to work better. I’ll try it your way.

Day 5 with the Karve: awesome.
Uncle Walter, Gillette 7 oclock Black, some Captain's Choice Nor'Easter menthol, shit was great.
Incoming, stoked to try this one:

Done with razors after this....zero desire to try anything else, but did enter a giveaway drawing for a Blackbird.

Rushed, but pulled off sink shave in Asheville

Edit; got grandpa into pic. Rock and roll!
Btw, great shave today. Boy is it easier to shave with soft water. You cats with soft water have it easy.
Rockwell and Sputnik were awesome. Bombora kicks butt. The old salt was nice and gentle.
I’m going 9/10 just because I missed my shower shave.

Right on Gene!!! Have a great time in SC!!!
SOTD...
Will add more later... taking the g/f and her mom to the diner...
...and I'm back from an amazing pork chop, baked potato and mixed veggie dinner with jello for desert.
The Wilkenson Sticky shaves exactly like the SLOC... no wonder the Sticky was so popular back in the day and no wonder they're scarce; no one wants to give them up!
Gene, your descrption of the Adagio was 100% spot on. That shit is tryppy!!! It's got that spicy scent that you like - it reminds me of Poison but, with a citrus twist.
The Adagio went perfectly with the Amici. Great stuff!!! 9/10
