Of course it is a serious crime. They will be punished. As Yarbicus pointed out, the American justice system doesn't have a problem throwing the book at black people. Nothing pussy or white-guilt about it. It is a fact.
That isn't what this thread is about. It's about bullying and this particular school's failure to prevent it.
They allow and encourage a kid to report drug dealing and then put the suspects on the same bus where he has no protection.
OK, but all you said in OP is that no one cares. A big part of why "no one cares" is that they won't escape punishment.
stupidity, grandstanding and entitlement complexes are a way bigger problem in america today.

ill say this too: prejudices exist, almost as much as they used to, if not more with misunderstanding of muslims thrown in the mix. millions more people are prejudiced against races than you think.
but actual racism, where action is taken other than whispers in a redneck living room, is, in most places i have been, FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR less of a problem than it is represented as. yes, it still exists. but ive lived in TX for 20 years and havent seen an actual act of racism. ever. i saw more racial prejudice than ever in the military, a melting pot of states, races., creeds etc. most prejudice? blacks against everyone, actually. actual acts of racism seen? 0. number of times someone of minority affiliation got in trouble and blamed racism? almost always. so fucked up.
oh and you want to see some legit racism? like, kick you out of an establishment because of your fucking skin? europe and rural japan.

I don't see this as a race issue in any way but as a criminal issue. Three 15 year olds beat up a smaller 13 year old because they could. It was three against one, and any one of which could most likely have beaten the 13 year old by themselves. This is clearly a premeditated criminal assault with the intent to do bodily harm, and it was clearly a conspiracy to commit criminal assault by the three young punks. This is a lot more than simple bullying, which is horrific in itself.
These three scumbags should be prosecuted to the very fullest extent of the law. They should be banned from ever attending a public school for life. We don't need criminals attending school with decent children, this has NOTHING to do with anyone's race it has to do with a lack of fundamental decency, a lack of character, and a lack of good parenting. The victims parents should sue the pants off of the criminals parents.
The school bus driver was obviously not the brightest person driving a bus and his race had nothing to do with his inaction. His conduct was because he appears to be an absolute moron. He just made himself look more stupid by shooting his mouth off in that interview.
The parents should also sue the bus driver and the school system, this is ridiculous.

I thought you lived in Texas?
Man, I remember hearing "nigger" and "wetback" every day when I lived in Waco. I still remember being introduced to the local Grand Dragon, just as part of a normal day. Racism is alive and well.
Not denying the other stuff you mentioned. It is just denying that racism is a real problem is pretty near sighted.

He saw a kid he thought he could pick on and bully. Is ridiculous and needs to be labeled correctly.
OK, now here's a post that makes some sense. Sorry I couldn't put this all together myself from the rest of the thread.
Not sure I can agree that bullying is more of a problem that racism, though. Interesting statement, though. How much of racism is actually bullying? Those of one race know that they will have back up if they bully another race? Just like the bigger picking on the smaller, I suppose.
Interesting.
I think a lot of problems like this were simply one person thinking they could intimidate another person because of size or other factors like Zimmerman having a gun. He felt that gun gave him an advantage IMO. I think that case was taken out of control due to the racism tag, when IMO it was a dummy that allowed a gun to send him on a power trip.
As I said above, I was bullied a couple months back by an aggressor with a firearm. He was black, but I don't feel me being white was the main factor. I think if I was a similar sized, non intimidating black kid the result would have been the same. I could have cried racism because he called me a cracker bitch, but lets face it. The shit was bullying.

I don't know how that story not getting more coverage and some thug being an asshole means discrimination isn't real anymore, but if that's what you really believe, then, well, I don't exactly know what to tell you except you're wrong.
Come again? When did I say discrimination wasn't real?

Ron Burgundy wrote:Having just recently had a gun pulled on me by a large black man, after he ran in to my brother's car and refused to exchange info, I can say that I don't see where black people are being discriminated.
That would be there I got that from.
TBH, I skimmed the rest of the thread. And I'm not sure if bullying is more of a problem than racism, but it certainly is a massive problem which thanks to modern technology can go on 24/7/365 instead of just at school or whatever.
So, I apologize if I misconstrued a single statement of yours into more than it was it just struck me as very naive or ignorant.
Lots has been clarified in a couple of posts that actually made sense.
I disagree with bullying being more of a problem than racism still, but it is a huge problem. A HUGE problem.

Anyway, I kind of look at that stuff all the same. There are dummies of all races wrapped up in racism. I just view them as morons stuck on a subject that doesn't have to exist. It's what prevented low class people from getting ahead. That's why we as civilized members of society shun them to trailer parks.

I was gonna say, yeah, I still hear that way more often than I should (which should be never). Not like weekly, but oh, his race and/or the religion he doesn't belong to gets mentioned fairly often in people's gripes about him.

What years? Maybe she was one of my students!
Living in Texas for 3 years was a major wake up call for me. The racism was so blatant. In fact, it also woke me up to the far less blatant but not less rampant racism around Seattle (mostly aimed at Asians).

I actually need to learn Spanish myself. Although Portuguese is close enough so I can understand it pretty well and read it fluently but I still can't speak it.
