We focus too much on deaths because death is a) horrible b) easily quantifiable.
What we're overlooking is long covid and the massive detrimental effects it can have on health. Perfectly healthy non-fatties have been totally fucked by long covid. You do not want long covid.

Yup. It causes clotting in most of the major organs in a significant proportion of people who have a rough bout. They still don't quite know what's up with that.

It would be better for everybody if the lab in Wuhan where this (most likely) leaked from started giving it to us straight too. It just so happens to be one of the only labs in the world that studies bat coronaviruses, was engaged in gain of function research which modifies viruses to make them more transmissible so that they can be studied more efficiently in a lab (easier to study when actual transmission occurs at higher rates for data purposes), and had been approved for live animal testing months before the pandemic and had purchased a large number of ferret cages. It should be highlighted that ferrets and minks are in the same genus (or maybe is phylum) as ferrets, and it's too coincidental that COVID absolutely ravages minks and that mink farms have had to completely shut down.

For Sars-Cov-2 to have adapted to be this transmissible across various species it would have had to have had an intermediate phase "sandbox" to play in. Viruses can learn to jump species but to then be able to transmit easily between hosts of the new species requires a lot more time in an environment with conditions that allow it to adapt. The whole wet market story has no evidence to back it and the fact that this completely novel virus hit the ground running with no evidence of the intermediate stage of adaptation is suspect to say the least.

The virus also has an inserted section of genetic code, which can happen in some rare cases in nature, but it's rare to say the least. It's also really strange that it's completely killed by UV light and lends to the notion that it was adapted in a lab environment where the sun does not enter.

So yeah... it would be REALLY helpful if China and the Wuhan lab would give it to us straight so that we actually know what we're dealing with and how it was designed to behave.

i'm not getting the vaccine (i'm not an anti-vaxer, and i don't care if anyone WANTS to get it).

i've never had a flu shot, and can count on my hand the number of times i've had the flu in the last 20 years. i'd just rather not get injected that hastily-made stuff.

the fact that the pharmaceutical companies are immune from any legal repercussion related to their vaccines is a little disturbing, too.

It's not an awareness issue. Most fat people I know actually know a lot about nutrition because they read about every diet out there. They just don't follow it or don't stick with it. Many of them even have their BMI memorized. They are aware.

You must have missed the new era of acceptance of one’s body even if they are 300lbs. There is 300lb woman on covers of swimsuit magazines. There is shaming against fat people who LOSE weight. This happens all the time now. Fat woman who post about feeling better after identifying some health practices that have helped them lose weight get more hate than positive.

So yeah, maybe telling people nearly all Covid deaths were fat and old people might make a few of them take more notice. Or not. They can get in line an inject a vaccine. Another quick fix for their problems. Noooo worries.

Immunization/vaccines is how contagious diseases are eradicated. It's not a "quick fix for fatties". Wtf lol

RFID is basically an antenna hooked to a circuit that repeats back when a signal hits it.
No power required - so user adjustable settings - can't be turned off - but it can be shielded so it doesn't work.

if I have oversimplified, please let me know.

Passive (unpowered) RFID chips detection range is 12 m but this is entirely dependent on the scanner (most are MUCH shorter).
You were issued a government ID number when born. Have more government ID numbers for taxes, licenses, etc.
Your face has been photographed and theres a good chance your finger prints have been taken too.

I'm guessing when you leave the house you carry your government issued ID.

What I'm wondering is what you possible new thing an RFID chip would actually produce?
You've already been assigned a number. They can already ID you by your face, the ID you carry, or any of the many digital finger prints you've left.
What new power or access would this give anyone they don't already have via other means?

To be clear I'm not advocating for chipping people because I don't see any purpose but I also don't see how anyone would gain any power over anyone else by being able to scan them via a radio frequencies and get a number back.
The information already exists, we gave up all those freedoms a long long time ago, a new way to access an ID number would substantively change nothing.
I get the emotional "ick" factor but acting like chips are some sort of possible invasion of privacy is a flawed argument ESPECIALLY when compared to what is being done via smart phones, Alexa, and even general internet searching.

It's cool - I'm really just busting balls. I don't want to see chipping people become a thing either - but it is probably inevitable. I would actually be surprised if it isn't already happening somewhere in the world.
