Sounds like it. It's a bit foolish to think that both systems will be fundamentally different when it comes to that issue. Continue drinking the Kool-Aid though...geez, you overtly vocal and one-sided opinion people sound like the neo-cons on HCPP.
I like you, man. If I had a sister, I'd let you fuck her.
Having owned an xbox360 for several years is all the reason I need to never buy another Microsoft console.

what kool aid? that's how I view the situation, if you have a different view state it... don't just write off my view...
my mind isn't made up as yet as to which console I think is better for me... the Xbox shows way more promise IMO as far as multimedia goes, but there are the down sides that everyone has spoke about at length there... I have to look at the PS4 launch to really see what the deal is but so far the Xbox looks like it's the one for me and that's because the pros out weigh the cons in my eyes... your view could be totally different and that's great buy the PS4... in the end what I buy what I think is right for me, not what you think is better

but.. is there any other type of Xbox live account? besides you need the Xbox live to play multiplayer games and isn't that why you get a console 90% of the time anyway? I know it's why I did.. If you want Netflx stand alone get it on your PC and stream it to your TV.. or get a smart TV... the way I see it is that I'm going to have the Xbox Gold account anyway so there's no real added cost to me to get Netflix other than the normal monthly fee.

Not you...I agreed with what you said. In a nutshell, I've become pretty indifferent towards new games, because there doesn't seem to be anything new about them, and this pisses me off. I blame large publishers who dilute ideas and curb risk in order to sell games. Protecting against piracy and making games easier to distribute seems like it could make it easier to self-publish new titles in the future. I could be way off though!

This is part of the reason I'm not a Microsoft fan. If you want to use your XBox for anything at ALL, you have to pay a monthly fee to them. Game online? Fee. Netflix? Fee to MS, fee to Netflix. Any of the various "channels" they offer for viewing? Fee to MS, fee to channel. It's a subscription service that allows you to pay for other subscription services.
Add in the way they handle trying to cancel a gold membership and it's multiplied by . That's right, it's squared.
They charge you the second you sign up, they charge you each month after. Then they charge you an extra month when you cancel because, "you pay for the month after the month is over." And they will fight you tooth and nail if you try to remove your credit card info so they can't keep charging you for it when you don't want it anymore.

Get a prepaid Visa card to sign up, then give them that...boom, no auto-renew, because they can't.
Or just buy the cards, and enter the code...That's what I do.

Probably a good idea if I ever thought I'd sign up for Gold again. Probably won't happen though. I couldn't ever bring myself to pay sixty dollars for any of the online games that appealed to me just so I could continue to pay a monthly fee to access them. I'm just not that big of a gamer.

I haven't found a game that I'd rather play online than by myself...I can't stand the fucking 10 year olds who have crackling voices throwing racial slurs around and generally just acting like tards...It takes the fun out of gaming...Also, I don't like going up against fat cheetoh handed fucks who sit there and play all day while I'm working to support their welfare asses.
What I'm saying is, I'd rather play single player campaign 99% of the time...

I didn't know you could pay monthly for gold... I just do the one year subscription and believe me, there's no auto renew on my account... but at the same time PSN is now going to be subscription based if you want to play multiplayer... so it's one or the other now... same fee
Called it. Just as bad as the X1 proposal and they lied about it...
As I expected.
Still, we have a choice on a console that will have some DRM depending on the publisher, against a console that does it to the entire game lineup. I think that's as good as we can expect. Remember the years when this wasn't an issue?
Thats not how they have spun it and that viral video saying you can do what you want has won them no favours with me. Basically both will have the same amount of DRM regardless and at least MS have been up front about it.

Sure...except for the fact Sony has said their exclusives won't have DRM...
You speak like every game that's going to be made for the system is made by EA or something similar. I don't see it being any different from what we've got with the current generation.

After all, developers won't be implementing the most DRM measures possible. No way they'll want to do that. I wouldn't say Sony lied about what it is...but their words were carefully chosen so as to garner the most acceptance by gamers.
Just found this discussion and being a console gamer I've got a big interest in one or the other. I preordered an X1 yesterday at GameStop and a PS4 today, will make my decision later.
I like the exclusives and launch games more on X1, but obviously there are certain things that piss me off. Add in the fact that most people I know will probably get a ps4 and it almost makes it a no brainer. I've always liked the Xbox controller more though so that sucks.
What I really want to know is....what are they going to use the touchpad for? I've already got a WiiU and don't really want to carry gimmicky controls over to whichever other system I get.
Psn+ is required for online gaming so that's a wash now.

This.
Wife gifted me 360 when it was fresh.
As soon as my 90 day warranty ran out, the shit-box RROD'd. Had to send in, pay to fix. Then they exteneded warranty's since it was a known heap, but no money back.
That and the auto-renew of their screwtacular Live Gold, with all the awesome things it gets you (that should cost 25 cents a month).

Fuck Um.
Can't argue with RROD. I went through 3 360's.
But the ps4 will also require psn+, which is essentially Live, for online gaming.
once again...Sony and MS will have direct control over DRM on games they publish, which they are handling VERY differently. All other developers will take any and all DRM they can get, so no difference there.

This.... if MS would just do away with the 24 hour check in crap they would be the clear winner
I'll probably get one. The always online thing doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm actually surprised everyone is so pissed about it. If my current Xbox is turned on, its online anyways. What am I missing?
