But regardless, I'm glad were getting to a point where people can comfortably come out and be who they are.
why? so you can get special treatment because you like going balls-deep on a BBC and you're a shit player at your sport? stupid.

Because people shouldn't have to hide who they are. It's the media that blows shit like up.
But yea, I see your point. This shouldn't even be something that is discussed. It's just someone living the life they were given.

Steven A is the definition of annoying. How does that guy still have a job? And when will he stop using te word trepidation in every sentence?
Broussard has always been a super nice dude. I hate that they are pushing it the other way.

Stephen A. has used the n word on live TV multiple times and is basically Sharpton Lite when it come to racial instigation. It's pretty pathetic, yeah.

How was he "hiding" it before? Do you know him personally? Because I don't think you do. NBA dudes are the most promiscuous of any pro sport, far and away. I don't see a got damm Stephy Stephonofolous or wtf-ever his retard name is interview special when some dude pounds vag 10x a night on a road trip. His career is (probably) over, he was and is a C/D-rate player and hey it's one last thing to stay in the limelight and extra week. If you can't see this for what it is I don't honestly know how to help you.

Honestly dude, I don't give a shit. At all. This guy can fuck anyone he wants, now or in the past. I've never cared what people choose to do, but there are a lot of judgemental cunts in our country...and that's all I'm saying.

guys ragin' on the south are actually pretty right. you can't throw a rock into a crowd without hitting a bigot of some sort, independent of color. the thing about bigotry in the south is that it's a finely ingrained part of everyday life...it's subtle and delicate, like a fine wine if you will.
sure, there are morons that get rageboners and upset the balance, but they're rare.
having spent most of my youth in california, my first experience with racial bigotry was when i came to georgia...i was a VICTIM of it. there's some kind of strangely perpetuated myth that racism is ONLY white people hating on black people...at least, that's what i perceive to be the case. the reality is much different.
personally, i don't give a shit about who people have sex with or what color they are. i'm in the minority on that here, though. feckin' bible belt FTMFGDL.

there are some fucked things about this though, on a serious note
a) not the first homosexual sports player to come out. yeah, fuck tennis, but still. b) possible publicity stunt, as some are saying he wasn't going to be picked up next season c) the broussard thing: really fucking stupid, and indicative of a prevalent christian bullshit veil that cloaks our nation, but not gay bashing. way dumber than gay bashing, imo.
bottom line: taking it in the bottom should not be fucking news, and the news surrounding it is fucking dumb. glad this will be gone before friday.

I think this took some guts and bravery but i have a question.. Who REALLY cares? I mean that in a respectfull manner, but whats with this and the attention the media gives this?
If the guy can play 'ball' for my team (no matter the sport) and help my team win or get to the promise land/championship WTF do i care what they do in the bedroom? SERIOUSLY what do i care what he does behind close doors?
I dont get the attention with this. ---- Some guys like blondes, some like brunettes, chains and whips, bondage, hang from the ceiling, like doggy style, etc, etc. I dont care about what they do in the bedroom in their private time - who really fucking cares? More power to them

- The media is in business for ratings. They don't get ratings by habitually covering topics/stories that a lot of their viewers don't find interesting, regardless of whether you, in particular, find it interesting. Their survival is based upon continually covering things that will keep viewers tuned in, and given that they have boatloads of data and experience that tell them what the viewers will keep watching, I figure they know better than me (and you) what to cover. The majority of the blame that gets put on "the media" for what they cover deserves to be put on the viewing public.
-Should this be news in a perfect world? No. Too fucking bad we are not living in a perfect world where nobody cares about sexual orientation, regardless of whether you (or your friends, family, region) do or not. Live in an enlightened area? Good for you. I don't.
-Comeing out of the closet is a huge fucking deal for a lot of gays...probably the majority. The reason WHY it is a big deal is because a lot of people care. And that is why it is "news." My aunt came out a few ago. My grandparents, who are actually amazing people, didn't take it too well for religious reasons. My wonderful aunt almost killed herself over it. Her parents finally came around. When public figures come out it helps to break the taboo, and helps construct an evironment where people can come out and live their life without facing something like that. Im disappointed to see the "edgy" negative comments about this.

Yeah I saw the OPRAH on the wall behind it and wasn't sure what that was. I put it into google translator for every single language but it always came out the same. Thanks for clarifying
for those who paint The South with such a wide brush... Lol.
Anyone making the same kind of stereotypical generalizations about other places (the middle east, the ghetto, etc) gets attacked by the p.c. Police.
Not that I really give a shit..Ive been hearing that shit my whole life. I just think it's funny.
I know Yankee mother fuckers, and cats from out west, and other regions who are way more racist & intolerant of others, than most people I've known from here, my whole goddamn life.
back to dude being gay... So what. If we're all equal..why does it matter?
I hate the media.

I think its hilarious, the folks who think this is all 100% media related. Of COURSE the media is going to blow it up 1000000%. Its what they do. Its why Tim Tebow is STILL being talked about even though his football career is probably over. They make money by selling ads by sensationalizing stories.
However...
The issue, and why its a big deal, is that it is still very difficult to be homosexual in many walks of life, male dominated sports especially, to be open about who they are. Contrary to what many of you seem to think open is, for most, it doesn't being a flamboyant stereotype. It means, not having to hide a part of yourself for fear of your job. It means, not having to awkwardly dodge questions about "Why don't you have a GF? When are you getting married?" It means not dealing with denying who you are in an attempt to be "normal."
I personally know a couple people who are closeted completely out of fear of never getting promoted at their job again. And since they both work at small places, with lots of people wanting to rise up, they aren't willing to risk it and it just kills them. Honestly, I think they might be happier if they just came out, but its not right they have to worry about that and they do.
This is still a real issue, and attempting to blame people's attitudes towards homosexuals on media conflation is simply not the full picture either. If you're naive enough to believe being gay isn't difficult in many parts of the country, well, you're very naive.

This is well stated. A lot of people I know at work and so forth have echoed the sentiment in this thread, you know, the "Why does he have to make such a big deal out of it? You don't see me coming out as straight, or bragging that I'm straight, do you? Just go be gay and shut up about it."
This from people with pictures of their wives and kids on their desks, who have never had to think twice about the consequences of putting them there.
"If there was only a way that I couldn't even any less than I already can't then I'd gladly not, but I think I've entered some quantum paradox, dark matter levels of can't evening where the total absolute value of not evenness exceeds all ability to explain the can'ting." - MR RUBATO
