Idris himself was tested because he had spent time with someone who was later confirmed to have it. Which to my mind is a valid reason to get tested.
As for how seriously I'm taking it? 10-9-9. We make our weekly grocery run. We walk the dogs on empty streets. We do the weekly pet shopping and grab take-out. Outside of that? We're on lock and don't leave the house/yard. We're loners by nature so it's no big. She's been out of work for a bit anyway, and I'm work from home so it's working fine thus far for us.
I do think the corona virus is demonstrating what a house of cards we've made of our healthcare system. We're ill prepared to face normal circumstances if people actually started going to the doctor regularly as they should. Bring on something like this and we're scrambling to keep up.
Meanwhile our government bickers rather than acts. They need a good swift kick to remind them what their jobs are. I'm talking universally here.
On the brighter side of things, I'm seeing some really impressive efforts from some companies to keep things running smoothly. Best Buy has stopped allowing people in store, but you can either order on the web or call in to order and they'll bring it to your car. They're also paying those willing to work during this time an extra bit for endangering themselves, and paying those that stay home their normal take-home. That's stepping up in a way I didn't expect from them.
Several local and franchise food places are switching tactics and making take-home ready-made meals rather than making food to eat in. Most of them also offer curbside to the car rather than forcing you to go into their facility to pick up orders.
Don't know about your cities, but ours looked like a ghost town when we cruised through for the pet food run on Sunday. The intersections that are usually jam packed and backed up for miles had maybe two or three cars on each spur. So apparently most got the memo.
Meanwhile the church up the road from us was jamming with hundreds in attendance.

Stay safe, everybody. We're in this together.
