I hate it when DK learns a new word or phrase.
Battleshit = Leftover Transformers models that got cut + a different director. I still can't bring myself to watch it.

Sexy Beast
Free on Netflix
Great British Gangster movie with an interesting plot.
Starring Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone, so that alone is worth the time spent.
edit for score: 9/10

I've seen you say some shit, but putting Battleship and Evil Dead in the same category of . . .
You know what? I can't even. Someone else take this one.

I watched The Wolverine the other day. It started off pretty good but the last act went into cartoon land.

^That. I'm sorry DK
There is indeed good cheese. Machete=Good Cheese. Hobo With a Shotgun=Good Cheese. Battleship=worst kind of cheese that needs grated into dust. Atrocious in every way imaginable. If you're going to watch a Peter Berg film; watch Very Bad Things instead.

Sexy Beast is awesome. Ben Kingsley is a very underutilized actor. Which is sad because he is excellent in whatever he is in usually.

The Way Way Back. 8/10. Great coming of age teenage-drama. TL;DR Mopey teen stays with mom and her bf Steve Carrell (complete jerk). Gets job at waterpark with Sam Rockwell (quirky BA as per usual). As unexciting as that description sounds, it is really good lol

I Spit On Your Grave 2 - 7/10 give or take. Not as good as the initial remake, which was a surprisingly good movie, but definitely a good watch if you're into the gore infested revenge scenarios. Dunno if I'd ever watch it again, but it was good to see once.

Searching For Sugar Man
I was totally unaware of this until today and have watched it twice and already learned the bass and guitar parts to "I Wonder". This documentary blew me away, especially since it is true. It would've been great just as a fiction flick but being about real people and events makes it even more spectacular. Do not watch trailers or read reviews/youtube comments because it'll ruin a major part of the show.
Just go in cold, watch it loud and in full screen and be amazed. Even if you don't care for his music, the fact that GAB is a musician site and this is about a musician should hold some appeal.

Machete Kills - 3/10. The first one was bad in a good way, this one is just plain bad. Even with Sofia Vergara's machine gun tits.

Circadian Rhythm - You ever wanted to see Tig's daughter from Sons of Anarchy, or Meg #2 from Supernatural running around for an hour and some change in a librarian getup then it's a

. If you had any desire to be entertained in a way that didn't make you go

at the end of it look elsewhere. It starts with like five minutes of text, then says, "this is not one of those stories." As the wife said, "THEY'RE MIND FUCKING US ALREADY?" It didn't really get better from there, but we toughed it out thinking there was gonna be some big reveal at the end. The big reveal was. . . not the big reveal once it was over. Just

all the way around.

Two Guns - comedy disguised as a shooter flic.
The Internship - funny as hell. Lots of great nakedness in the long strip club scene. All boobs and ass, sausage free zone...

Zero Charisma 3/10
The previews made it seem a lot funnier that it actually is. Too dramatic. I want my money back.

Nay on the wand shots...
At least a dozen pairs of runaway melons. Some great stripper dancing. Girls kissing girls. We watched the uncensored version.

the heat: takes the fat chick from bridesmaids' role and amplifies it, takes bullock's role from ms. congeniality (fuck you, i had sisters) and amplifies it. then combines. i actually laughed the whole time, because i like that big girl's sens of humor.
and...
i finally saw pacific rim.
great use of tech, but WAY too much shit going on onscreen a lot of the time. some of characters were too campy (the mathematician dude and the black market kaiju dealer)
the baby kaiju was stupid.
the water effects were cool when dealing with light and depth...
...until the completely ridiculous and dumb-looking scene at the breach.
overall, for what it was, 6/10. compared to the whole world of film, including watchability, staying power, performance, etc: 4/10.

thread renewal:
V/H/S/2
pretty good stuff for what it is (found footage shaky cam horror vhs manipulation)...included one of the better zombie shorts ive seen in a while (undead gopro!)...interesting twist on the meta plot (the series has mini stories with an unrelated overall story happening between them), some great tricks with sound and video.
some stuff i didnt like: the chinese cult thing was equal parts utterly amazing and really dumb, given the ending of it. "papa"? really? the baphomet was a cool idea in theory though. i dont know if the zombies were necessary. mixed a few too many genres in that one, methinks. jumped the shark completely.
the aliens....visually great at most points, but plotless and the dog angle was dumb.
overall....6/10

I love that movie. Brad Pitt is great, Bruce Willis is great. And Terry Gilliam weirdness. So good.
