That Newsome is one smarmy fuck. The way his eyes are all shifty, the way he speaks in circles without actually saying anything of substance, definitely current presidential material. I'm expecting martial law by Monday at the rate this is going.
Cuomo on the other hand is actually impressing the hell out of me. Being blunt yet somehow humane, and remarkably transparent. "I accept full responsibility". Shooting down myths with, "Yeah, that's not true". What a breath of fresh air from a politician.
Just got a text from the dispensary, which is considered an "essential buisness" under the Shelter-at-Home order, they're staying open. Whew! I'm going for a ride...
nightflameauto wrote: And speaking of stupidity, Gamestop has declared themselves essential in the face of California's crackdown. That's some really serious levels of stupid. And sorta a perfect example of why America, especially corporate America, isn't ready to face something this big with any level of intelligence. "They can't mean me. I'm too important."
I hope whatever corporate drone made that decision gets pinned to the wall in the end. Profit above safety right now is the dumbest thing imaginable.
In Gamestop's case they are probably doing this because they will literally go bankrupt if they have to close
It's gonna die eventually regardless, but having to close for weeks or possibly months is an instant nail in the coffin for them

Its not just lip service and "Merica" type talk , its real shit. they make almost everything over their and they fucking steal a bunch of it, its crazy that we make most of our medicine, respirators and other vital equipment over there. There is some talk about bringing it back to production here and it cant be soon enough imo
.
I would wager that respirators, ventilators, gloves, masks, visors and other PPE are about to be manufactured in this country in quantities never seen before. I think the real question is whether this will be a Federal mandate or whether all 50 state governors will band together.
Whatever or however its done it MUST be done, the fact that they made a veil threat a week or so ago about antibiotics should just be final straw - They also gave us SARS and possibly the H1N1 virus (not 100% sure on that one but it came from asia) - they can FKCK OFF AND FVCK OFF hard, commie douches
Tucker has been VERY critical and actually informative the past couple weeks - some of you may not like his politics (thats ok i get that part ) but hes been critical, informative and spot on in many cases on this topic. On a side note I get the HUFFPOST on my phone feed and its just a sh!tshow of news, it had a headline mentioning George conway and Trump as "news" and it does this type of "news" alot- im sorry that site is just garbage and awful
I am not the biggest Mario Cuomo fan but hes been steady and fairly forthcoming and informative during his press conferences, hes putting even more travel restrictions down as we speak

If this virus is going to cause the amounts of casualties projected, then it is a war, with healthcare workers as our front line. War measures may be necessary to beat this proper, such as repurposing manufacturing like in WWII to get workers hooked up with proper biosuits and the main populace with proper masks/PPE, oxigen/air equipment for the sick, medications and testing devices, access to food and financial solvency etc... its gonna be rough.
Not exactly something that's gonna be missed by many.
For sure. I stopped buying physical media a long time ago - it's literally completely pointless to buy physical games these days unless you just enjoy having the clutter of a pile of game cases and the inconvenience of having to dig them out any time you want to play something else

Cuomo is an excellent speaker but, he's also a thief - just like all politicians. Use a pirate accent: "Thar be no better mask, for a dishonest man then, an honest face" - Charles Laughton in Treasure Island

Restaurants, bars, and gyms are closed here. I share an office with two engineers. Today they separated us. I stayed where I was so I can keep an eye on the machines and help the operators. They are staggering our breaks so not as many people are in the breakroom at the same time.

Illinois is set to get announced at 3pm Central today. Doesn’t surprise me...though if you’re taking this seriously it’s no different. Groceries, pharmacy, gas stations and certain businesses stay open.
It appears pretty much the retail that hadn’t closed will, and the 65+ year old fucks I know who think it’s a joke may finally have to stay home. no offense meant if you’re over that age and cooperating...I unfortunately know people in that age range who are prime candidates and still think it’s a hoax

I'm rarely on the "good, let darwin do his work" side of things but there is a special fucking place in hell for those fucks as well as the spring breakers doings the same shit. Suck it up butter cups, this shit sucks for fucking EVERYONE.

Thats how I feel about our stupid governor as well. (JB Pritzker) Typically think he sucks (aside from the legal weed) but I really think he's been handling this well for our state.
Also something to keep in mind guys, I started showing symptoms of COVID yesterday. Called my doctor and long story short they think I have it based on our conversation but suggested I not come in and get tested since I am not in a high risk group. The reason for this is limited testing supplies. This leads me to beleive the confirmed cases reported so far are WAY under the reality of the situation.

Oh I'll be fine man, not worried in the slightest for myself. I keep myself healthy and am pretty young (35).
The trouble breathing was definitely sucky but I'm already feeling better today than I did yesterday. I'm very fortunate in many circumstances in my life including being able to work from home and my company being considered essential since we supply the food industry with machinery, service, and parts.

Sorry to hear it. A coworker of mine's sister works in a hospital in Miami. She got sick in January. They now think it was Covid19. This was going around the world before Wuhan shut its borders.
I am at work now. We just had a chat about asking management to quarentine the two treatment plants. If you are not a plant operator or member of the lab staff, gtfo.

That sucks, man. Get better.
And I've been saying for a while we don't really know how many cases are out there simply because of the limited testing availability. We at the very least know it's under reported, we just don't know by how much.

that's a double edged sword. On one hand, it sucks not being able to know exactly where we're at with case number. On the other hand, it shows that the fatality rate is much lower than the current percentages, since every death is being reported but we're nowhere near actual case numbers.
