My "wishing it were summer" bro time shave:

Baby Smooth was smooth. Dorco Titan was okay, but not great.
Stupefacente was a lathersaurus today. Crazy. Almost too much. Awesome.
Tiki Salty Air smells like taffy. Pretty awesome. Nice menthol kick.

8/10??

I tried shave oil with my first straight shave... lather just floats uselessly on top of the oil.
The oil didn't afford any extra protection so, I tossed the bottle in the trash.

Myrsol electric preshave. I like it. Smells like naphtha and menthol. Feels like solvent.

Voskhod blade. Very meh. Good thing I bought 100.

Fatip faux horn testina gentle. Badass.

Valobra stick. Most overrated soap EVER. sticks are dumb and this smells like holiday inn soap. Dried out my face. Dumb dumb dumb

Stubble buster evocative splash. Joop knock off. Lots of scent. Kind of burns. Meh.

Fun shave since it’s all new stuff, but 6/10

Diggin on that Fatip Gene.

Kai milds showed out earlier than expected; drunk now and think I’ll wait until morning to use the Hawk.

This doesn’t seem like something I should fuck with drunk...

Triple milled Shave sticks are the least convenient soap format ever.
1. Stick starts dry, unless you want to ruin it.
2. You have to dip it in water and rub it onto your face for five minutes.
3. Then you have to lather on your face for five minutes since the brush is starting completely unloaded.

It’s a good thing I tried to make this work on a Saturday since I probably would have been late to work fucking with it.
Then it has to dry standing up half of the day which leaves the base wet.

Fucking stupid. Terrible. The cult of shave sticks is right up there with cold shaving with a moss scuttle. Get the fuck out of here.

Fatips are so friggin good, it’s crazy. So cheap. Such a great design. Brass. No zinc in sight. Made in Italy.

This cool faux horn model came from Connaught shaving in England. I’m planning on buying more stuff from them. That’s where I got my kilo of Tcheon Fung Sing almond soap.

I think they’re stupid. I can’t imagine them staying hot unless you keep adding water from an electric kettle.

Plus, since I shower shave, I don’t really keep “a bowl” of lather next to me. Lather stays in my brush or on
My face.

Came to my senses. Didn’t use Valobra Stick.

Fatip =great again
Usta blade = mediocre at best. Don’t let people convince you otherwise. Dull. Rough. Shit.
Soap commander honor = the weakest scent I’ve used from them. But outstanding performance. Allowed me to use a 3rd world window scraper blade.
Myrsol electric pre = such fun. I love just looking at myrsol bottles
Shannon’s lit aftershave. Great scent nice feel. Scent fades fast though. Like instantly.

Interesting! I need to use my hawk some more. I don’t remember it being ultra aggressive. Maybe the v2.1 myth is real. But I couldn’t detect any difference between my long owned blue v2 and new black v2.

My Black Hawk is one of the most aggressive razors I own... even with the blades that have the safety bumps.
I've only used it three or four times so, maybe I just need some practice with the handle angle?

Tried out the new, beehive synth brush this morning. Man, the knot and handle are pretty big... large is a good thing when discussing brushes!
Water flicks out easily so, the first Uncle Walter's lather was a bit dry so, I added some water and wound up with a nice, creamy coating.
I'm digging it!!!!
I gave my old, floppy Omeaga synth to the g/f to use as a makeup brush.

Yeah, hot water scuttles are useless. Just a scam to take money from noobs.

I’m pretty sure I’m riding the safety bar at about 45 degrees or so on my hawk. I’ll try my Blackhawk with a Kai tomorrow and see if I’m nuts.

Post apocalyptic container shave day with Blue Hawk V2:
Image

Razor: Hawk V2 with Kai Titan Mild. Definitely aggressive, but the light feel makes it deceptive. I actually had a tad bit of irritation on the right side of my neck. Had to do some Prep Pre/post cream post after after shave. Incredibly close shave though. And no need for excessive buffing. The beard is just GONE in about 1.5 passes.

Soap: Valobra Menthol soft soap in noxzema container. Pretty good. meh. whatever. Not as fired up about it as the last time I used it. Almost no smell.

Used the Myrsol electric as a pre shave again. like pure everclear mixed with lacquer thinner. Still intriguing. I guess it makes your whiskers stand up when you're using a Norelco.

aftershave: Myrsol Antesol in the Nalgene bottle. Glad I didn't pay full price for this one. Not as good as the Plastic/Lemon/Blue/Formula C/Metilsol/etc. Weak scent. Nice post face feel though.

Overall, a VERY close, good shave, but I would pick some different gear tomorrow. Underwhelming presentation, and it shows in my post-shave feelings.

Did I really need to shave today? Nahhhh

Did I want to? Bet that ass and here's why:

Dig this stuff.....nice and light scent, plus I think if I ran out of booze I could drink it.

Thanks Ajax, much appreciated sir!

Hawk still aggressive....think you're right Gene, it IS light and that's deceptive. I got 3 weepers out of this.

How long do you get out of the Kai Milds? This was 2nd on this blade and it was grabby as fuck...

yeah man!

old salt in yesterday afternoon-- got so wrapped up in reviewing new mixes that i didn't have a chance to ping back--- but shaved in the eve and used it! heck yes.. man i kinda want to eat this stuff.

perfect balance of a light burn, NO lingering ITCH, which some bay rums manage real bad (ogalalla, lookin' right at ya)- and ridiculously good smell. the vanillaishness kinda just rules.

i almost don't wanna use it cause i don't wanna run out

heck yes- brian thank you! as soon as i grab a good vessel, i'm mixin ya up the NH defunk edible deodorant!

so silly the generosity and craftitude of this community-- always thankful!

Weird, Maybe Kais aren't the be all-end all-for all. I can get like 5 shaves out of one. (And that's a lot for me vs nearly any DE blade where I can get about 2 good shaves.) Maybe, you should try Schick P30's?? I bought mine directly from Japan on Rakuten. pretty painless process. Cheap too!
