This Means War: 6/10

Something comedy with Chris Pine and Tom Hardy being CIA assassins that fall in love with the same chick.

Fuck it, I didn’t hate it. It kept me entertained trapped in a hotel room in mother fucking Texas. Plus Reese is fine as shit.

This thing got horrible reviews but as a background movie it wasn’t terrible.

We watched Onward and man did that movie bring a tear to my eyes. Our daughter didn't get why we got choked up, but as an adult it hit the heart strings pretty good.

If you're into an animated movies that are light hearted, but deal with heavy subjects...... It's not a bad movie. I'd give it a 4.5/5

I liked Nobody...... it's not a new concept or award winning movie.... but the action was solid and Christopher Lloyd was great

I liked Nobody. I do wish I wouldn't have watched the trailer for it as it was fairly spoiler-rific in regards to some good violence.

I really liked Nobody. 10/10 for what its trying to do. The story doesn't break any new ground but damn it was a solid action flick.

Bob Odenkirk is actually unassuming at first glance but totally capable in the action sequences.

The reveal midway through totally reframes the beginning of the movie. I hadn't watch any previews so idk if it got spoiled in them but going in blind it was super effective to me. The first half of the movie had me expecting a completely different outcome. Really well done imo.

I found the action captivating, I love how each sequence really ramped things up. It also felt more grounded and brawler-ish than John Wick.

Doc Brown shoots a ton of shotguns.

What more do you want :idk:

I agree the action was good but a bit too unrealistic for me. Saul just doesn't fit the part of a badass to me?

Fuck yes. Finally somebody did a video game tribute right. I fucking loved it. When we finally got to "Get over here!" I geeked out hard. My wife had no idea why as she never played the game, but Scorpion was always my favorite. I love that they really dived hard on the Subzero/Scorpion story. I suppose those that didn't love either of them may not have cared as much for it, but I definitely got my time worth.

I never played the game. But this flick was the best kind of dumb action I've seen in a LONG time. Highly recommended provided you acknowledge what you are going into.

I played it in the arcade religiously. I owned the sega version and the sega cd version. Later I owned a couple of the Playstation versions and the PSP version. I think I've got a couple version on my iPhone too. It was probably my last love affair at the arcades before they slid out of existence outside places like Chuck-E-Cheese's.

I enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie ages ago, but I honestly think I like this new one better. Dumb action is just about right, and mixing in a building up the lore of the games really helps draw in the old fanboy in me.

I was let down by the more grounded fights in MK. Idk, the kung fu just looked bad and slow :idk:

I enjoyed Kabal's fights.

I'd rather watch another MK flick in this same vein and quality level than another MCU thing :cop:

I want more silly action movies too.

But I want them to be better than MK.

I always thought the Kompany was named for the Mortal Kombatant, and I grew up in Madison, where they build the damn things. Hell, my house is a mile away from their Korporate headquarters. Nope, Mortal Kombat a bigger influence on my childhood than a local, and significant, employer in the manufacture of Konsumer goods.

Yup, I grew up in the 90s.

Probably a better movie to watch now than when it was released (never watched it before)

So many things spookily accurate - but that probably shouldn't be surprising - it came from Hollywood, and who is helping to push this current narrative?

"Salt is bad for you - so it's illegal". (same thing with meat, cigarettes, etc.)

"The only guns you will see are in museums"

The benevolent/evil Dr. (mayor) Cocteau - who is implementing his version of utopia.

The underground society - a mix of freedom loving conservatives and criminals.

I gotta give it a 9/10 - it rings too true.

Mortal Kombat 7/10. I mostly liked it. The reworking of Scorpion and Sub Zero was closer to the video games than the first movie. Kano was on point. Kabal was awesome (one of my favorites since MK3). Mileena is always a welcome sight but I wonder where her sister is (given that her fan was in Raiden’s temple). Some cool Easter eggs over all. Cole was ok. I really thought they were going to use him as a host body for Hanzo’s spirit but they didn’t. I’m glad I was wrong. That would have been stupid.

I knew they would set up for a sequel (I expect we’ll see Revanents or Zombies for some of these characters to return). Big final fight was cool but no final battle with Shang Tsung bummed me out. Also, not a fan of this Liu Kang. Wasn’t awful, but I expected more from Liu Kang.

And if anyone wants to question my Kombat cred, I’ve been playing the games since the first one hit home on Genesis. Saw the first movie and loved it. Second movie was hot garbage. Game wise I fell off after 3/Trilogy for a while. Came back when MK9 was announced and have played MK9, MKX and MK11. All 3 of those have been stellar.

Spiral. 10 Miscasting's gone wrong/10. It's SAW. I expected as much. It was the first time back out seeing a movie in the theater with the wife and thought it would deliver on good old fashioned horror. I was hoping Chris Rock would do something other than alternate between weird scowling faces and yelling. I was disappointed. I was hoping Sam Jackson wouldn't integrate the F word with some form of playing a game. Not disappointed as he did deliver on that promise to a degree; but his presence was largely wasted. I had hoped not to have weird cop show drama interspersed into the story. I was hoping not to have some sort of "social commentary" woven in because it's well; a horror flick. Thoughtful horror is for the couch at home. I was hoping to have a good score instead of terrible trap music . I was disappointed. Ugh.

I started Tenet last night. Still have an hour left. Nolan is one of my favorite directors but this one seemed to be falling a bit flat so far :idk:
