That little dude is staring at your shit and creeping me out! What’s the story?
Post up your thoughts on the SLOC, just bought one too!

When Gene posted a photo of his SLOC, it looked so cool, I had to get one too!
Back in the 90's. I was into the whole Tiki, Hawaiian Shirt, Tropical Cocktail culture thing.
I got that little Tiki guy at an fish tank store!

1. RE: The SLOC. It's slightly too mild for me. That said, I may use it tomorrow to get back on track. My Fatip SE Piccolo was almost too aggressive today. For $16 it's a steal. Shoot, the handle is worth $16.
2. SOTD:

So, first time ever using pre shave oil. It's kind of nice. Face feels great.
This Fatip Special edition Piccolo is nice.
Barrister and Mann Nocturne. Smells like Skoal Cherry mixed with motor oil. In the tub, it's intriguing. On my face, it's putrid. Fucking disgusting. I need to sell this ASAP. Shaved nice though, but that's to be expected from BM.
Linea Intenso Bergamot Splash. YES! Didn't burn. Smells awesome.
Overall 7/10

Just used my new, SLOC for the first time, with a Polsiver Super Iridium blade.
9.5/10 Near perfect shave!!! It wasn't too aggressive and not too wimpy... just right.
Loading the blade was pretty strange... when I tightened it up, the blade made a crackling sounds... pretty weird!
Once it was tightened up, everything was fine.

The crackle is when one side of the inside of the blade mounting hole is stuck on the threads of the head.
no biggie.

Ah ha! The threads on the head bolt!!!! Ya learn something every day!
I'll be using the SLOC for the next few days, until I unpack the rest of my collection and figure out how to store them for easy access.
I'm thinking that a test tube rack will work out best.

My RAD overtook my storage. I actually have to have:
on-hand storage.
short-term storage.
long-term storage.

I'll bet I have 75 razors right now.

Curse this rabbit hole. I just purchased my second handle: A 1963 Gillette 1-9. The same model used by James Bond in Goldfinger.
All I need is some Hai Karate...

Cool razor!
If you want to smell like 1963, get some barrister and Mann reserve “classic” aftershave. It’s a Gillette sun up clone.

Is the I-9 the same as the Slim?
I like Slims better than Fat Boys.

I’m kind of split on slims vs fats.
I like the solid feel and size of the slim, but the fatboy head is closer to the 40’s aristocrat, which I prefer.
All that said, I’ve really shied away from vintage Gillette’s for a while. Really liking the current razors available.
Karve
Blackland
Mongoose
Razorock
Fatip
Occam’s

Gene, do you have a Merkur Futur or, did you get that $12 clone?

I kind of gave up on merkur a while back for a few reasons.
1. My 38R broke. (I found the part from a German distributor though, and fixed it.
2. Trying not to use Zamak razors out of principle
3. My 1904 had really shitty machining on the handle
4. I had mucho trouble selling a few Merkurs. Now they're stuck in storage.
5. Some blade alignment issues, etc.
The last thing I need is a Chinese copy of a razor I don't really want.

I think I have around 10 Merkurs. Gave a few away. Sold a Mergress. Never owned the Futur. Do you remember the Vision 2000????? It was like twice as big as the Futur.

SOTD:

1. Blackland Blackbird. awesome.
2. Personna lab Blue sucked today. I thought I liked these???
3. Divino preshave Oil was a treat, but I'm not sure these oils will become a thing with me.
4. BM Promises. Interesting. Very nice. Smells like anise, fennel, and car exhaust. It smells cold, but there is no menthol. I like it.
5. BM Reserve Classic aftershave. YES! Ultra good. I LOVE this scent. It smells old, but fresh and not gross.

Man, you've certainly been through a LOT of razors!!!
I'm digging the Future clone... yes, it's an imitation, but it's made well - it's heavy, substantial and legit... for $12.99, it's
TOTALLY worth it.
My only experiences with Murker have been with their Long Handled Classic, Slant and their blades.
I like the Merkur Long Handle with the Classic head... the knurling on the handle is amateurish but, the head is nice.
Not too keen on the Murker slant and I
HATE Merkur blades.
Saw photos of the Vision 2000

thought it was bizarrely bulky so, I never bought one.

Welp, shave oils give me zits. I should have seen that coming.
Didn’t really improve my shaves all that much either.
Those can go into the office shave storage.
