Tarrantino is just a huge fucking movie nerd. Most of the time you can pick up whoever he's most into when he's writing a scene. If it's somebody wordy as hell, he tries to take it to that level and usually falls short, though he's had his moments. Pulp Fiction and the foot massage deal still cracks me the fuck up.

i was rewatching pulp fiction the other day and noted two things
1) even the rabid fanboys cannot overstate how awesome of a film as a whole it is
2) QT himself had the worst acting/dialogue in it BY FAR

Pacific Rim. It was a fun movie with only a tinge of cheese. 7/10
The Conjuring. I should have known better than to see another movie made by the people who made "Insidious". Cheese factor all around. Terrible acting. Terrible scares. Terrible plot. Cliche BS all around. Bored to my bone. Insidious is only slightly worse
and i consider that to be one of the worst horror movies ever. 1/10
Edit: I see some of you liked The Conjuring and i get it. I honestly do. I'm coming from a frustrated horror movie freak perspective though. I have seen this movie 1000 times and I definitely disagree that it was artfully done. I thought it was awfully done. This reminds me of "The Haunting" or "A Haunting in Connecticut" or something like that. Just cheese and cliche blandness all around. I'm sick of american horror and frustrated about it. There is no edge and no chances taken anymore.

Freddy got fingered 8/10 Parts still crack me up even now. I know the story isn't all that blah blah blah, but pure weirdness makes this film funny as.

Yeah, we get that. A lot of reviewers wrote the same thing, all the way from zeros to 10s. Gimme a break

It's totally possible to sit through *any* movie with a jaded mind and rag on everything. I guess that's what reviews are about though; it just sucks having to read 20 extreme, polarized reviews to get a decent perspective, versus just a handful of balanced reviews. End rant.

Rant all you want. If i don't enjoy something, i don't enjoy it. It was boring as all hell, was poorly acted and full of cliche shit. Wife agreed and she isn't a frustrated horror buff. This thread is about rating the last movie i saw. I did that, read back and noticed that a lot of people liked it. I then went and tried to explain my perspective.

Mr. Mom. Infinity/10
Is it just because Michael Keaton the genius actor of a generation? Is it the incredibly well thought out plot? Is it the fantastic film score throughout? Yes. Yes to all.

all of this, though. for real.
just saw shoot em up

cant even rate it. sex scene was awesome, lots of impossible/impractical gun play and cheese one liners. which is exactly what i picked it for.

I discerned pretty much exactly that from the trailer. Would not watch for money.

Evil Dead.... 7/10... I can't remember the original at all so I have no real reference to make comparisons or be upset by plot changes etc... all in all a decent horror flick IMO

I watched 2 movies on my trips to and from Europe.
42- Pretty good. Good acting once you get past Harrison Ford's mouth full of marbles accent. I thought the story was interesting, and the acting was pretty damn good.
Sound City- Great documentary about Sound City studios. Lots of great musicians and great stories. Would watch again.

Just watch the original again. IMO, they did nothing to make this remake special. All the plot points and things that made you say, "OH SHIT!" in the original, are recreated, almost to a tee... Kind of let down that they didn't really make it their own...

John Dies at the End- 8/10 I watched this on recommendations from here and FB. It was good. I need to watch it again as I wasn't giving it 100% attention.
Death at a Funeral- 6.5/10 It gets pretty funny about 3/4 of the way through but up to that point its sort of slow and I got tired of the trite portrayal of family dynamics. The funny moments are really funny though.
27 Dresses- 7/10 Your 100% typical rom-com in that you can predict every step of the plot along the way. That said it was funny and entertaining and the cliches didn't bug me like they normally do.

No, but wifey is edging closer and closer every year.

Seriously, why do women want to watch the same rom-com with different names and varying levels of terribleness over and over again. I suppose they could say the thing about crappy action movies, but seriously every single romcom is the same and usually with no bare boobies. WTF?!
And wait, aren't you the one who went and saw the Conjuring instead of Pacific Rim because of verfcode?

yeah, but i had some sort of perverted hope for the conjuring, based in no small part on some misleading reviews. it didnt have jenn aniston in it.
and i didnt call you a 40yo woman for seeing it, but for calling it a "rom com"
