So no fancy looms here, but I do have a couple mildly unique I/O things going on

Trigger warning : chaos for the ocd inclined

Trusty bag that is falling apart. This board is actually the oldest piece of music related equipment I still own, it’s about 16 years old. The cloth falling apart has actually yielded extra storage compartments though :cop:
Image

Inside… I know this looks like a disaster but it takes me less than 60 seconds to be fully connected and powered, probably even quicker to tear down after a set
Image

And here’s the board. The looper pedal is also serving as a master clock and click source for our in ears. The second stereo output is routed to send the click track only straight to mixer, and thst goes into our in ears. Then in the midi chain, the looper is linked to the space echo, which in turn goes a 25ft 1/8” cable into my bass players looper. -occasionally- my korg minilogue gets linked into the midi tempo chain as well. Hopefully more of thst in 2024
Image

Pedal signal path:
Front of amp: Dunlop switchless bass wah > mu tron mocrotron IV > pitch black > keeley compressor > mu tron phasor III

Loop:
Eqd afterneath (that is what the moog exp. Pedal is connected to)>boss re-202>shitty donner reverb (just recently put this back on, because I’m using the 5153 as my main amp now and there’s no on board reverb)>boss RC-500

I fully intend to purchase an HX one when they start shipping next month. Going to need to find room. Hoping I can maybe ditch the pitch black but I keep reading that the tuner on the HX only works if it’s first in the chain? :idk:

Holy cow that is some complicated sorcery, and definitely an interesting setup. I feel I need a video walk through to fully understand

Not sure on the HX tuner, I'll check next time I'm at practice. I prefer my Peterson on my main board by far, but I'm not going to fuck with an extra pedal on my cover band setup.

I feel like it’s probably more simpler than it sounds ultimately, then again, we went through about 8 months of way jankier setups and experimentation before we figured this out lol.

The midi chain is nice because all the newer boss mega pedals have the 1/8” midi sync in/out jacks, as does the korg minilogue

And I would love you long time if you scoped thst, I’m not sure if the hxfx would be any different or not than the upcoming HX one with the tuner, but digital igloo has been emphasizing on other forums thst the tuner is more of an “Easter egg” on this, but he might just be covering L6 bases for the cry babies that can’t figure out why people that use normal pedalboards would be into this product rather than modeling folks that think it should just be an hx stomp half the size and half the price

I used a custom snake and junction box in the past. There were some issues so I gave up on it. Now I use regular 20' or 25' cables in plain old split loom, no junction box. I color code the plugs and their respective jacks on the board and amp.

First board is based around a Digitech RP1000 for effects only going into my MT15. That amp is noisy and needs a transformer isolator no matter what I put in the loop. I added a Morley hum eliminator, Amptweaker defizzerator, and amp channel footswitch to the RP.
Signal is:
Guitar, RP1000, Whammy + Korg tuner, Morley, amp in.
Amp send, flanger, RP1000, defizzerator, Morley, amp return.

Powered by potatoes.

My other board, for my G50, doesn't have any noise problems. The RP360 has FS3X switches added plus an amp footswitch.
Signal:
Guitar, tuner, phaser, RP360XP, OD, amp input.
Amp send, tremolo, flanger, flanger, chorus, delay, reverb, volume box, amp return.

As for the cable snake, that is high on my list. My cabling is a fucking mess. I need to suck it up and buy a snake once and for all.

That aside, your board looks tight. Nice work!

Interesting, I was unsure if the cable was just considered a “ground lift?!” But as mentioned I don’t know shit about fuck.

Are you using FX loop on your current rig? IIRC you have a JCM 800 right? Lots of companies out there will make looms for you. I forget the company Dave used but I think his was actually $100 cheaper than Rattlesnake. Rattlesnake got them aesthetics though. :D

It is a ground lift. The sound you want will be transmitted, just not the hum through the ground (i.e. ground loop).

I have two amps with effects loops and two without. I also have a PS-100. So yeah, I am using a loop in most configurations. I still have the 800. Also the MarkIII, Jube and Tweed Pro. I have looked at looms from BPA, Redco, etc.. Just haven't pulled the trigger. Which is stupid. It simplifies and neatens everything up perfectly.

The company Shea used makes absolutely beautiful looms if you're okay spending some cash. I used Pro Audio LA and had a great experience as well for about 1/3 the cost. I went with Canare wire and Neutrik gold connectors, and they allow customization to fit your rig with a lifetime warranty.

You can't really go wrong if you have your rig mapped out in it's final state.

Wow a lot of nice clean setups here, mine is still a work in process. I finally ditched by daisy chained One Spot for an isolated power supply but I need to get some tie downs so I can clean up the mess underneath my board. I also started putting in low profile patch cables, I just need to buy another pack.

Right. I think he said he went with BPA in Texas? I've purchased from them and Redco in the past and had great experiences. So I would most certainly stick with either. How is your snake set up? 4 cable, Guitar, FX loop, and power? Did you run a extra cable for channel switching? That crossed my mind last night. Even if it's not being used, at least it's there.

I am definitely tired of my spaghetti setup

I keep forgetting that I own a Rubberneck. That is a KILLER delay. It can do some weird shit.

Rattlesnake Cables is who Shea used. I had to look up my invoice but appears I paid like $120 or so after options for an 18' snake, and had them make a couple additional 1/4" cables as well. They took a couple weeks to get them out, while I think Shea said Rattlesnake was next day.

Yeah I use BTPA a lot. Not for looms but for custom cables and adapters. They just made adapters for my Mesas so I can use a regular 1/4", single button footswitch to change channels, while keeping the contour and reverb functions always on. I got one for my F-100 and another for my Subway Rocket (they have different pinout configurations).

I buy looms from Pro Audio LA because I prefer their style of cabling. Just thinner and easier to use and store.

But I have ordered a lot of stuff from BTPA over the years. Brad does great work and he's a great guy to work with.

Oh I thought he had used BTPA. I am not familiar with Rattlesnake cables. I will look them up.
