Yep, preorderd a PS4 on Amazon as soon as the conference was over. Sony wins. Flawless victory. Fatality.

LOL Sony just totally destroyed MS. Used games are allowed, no DRM, no internet check in required; $100 less than Xbox One. Game over folks.

Yep. Who gives a shit about Gamestop anyway, it was only a matter of time before they went out of business. Flea markets. Good riddance, and I hope something more efficient takes its place. Screw publishers as well, who needs'em. I just wanna plug something in to my local redbox, download a game in to it, pay the machine, go home and play. Screw publishers.
well THIS is stupid

it wont. hell, even if it only has basic upgrades to keep current with this gen of consoles, nothing else changed, and i would still buy it over the xb1

The concern I'd have with the PS4 is that the devs may well go with the X1 because they can enforce DRM. Sony could always add it to keep the devs/publishers happy and indeed MS could drop it if they feel it is hurting their sales. Thus far neither system is getting my money.

it all depends on how MUCH more gamers flock to Ps4, i suppose. a bottom line is a bottom line.

The thing with console sales is that they (generally) lose money on the console and then get it back though licensing so its feasible that the X1 could be more profitable even if sells less units.
The whole thing is fucked up! I'm waiting until next year until I even think about where to put my cash.

actually...yeah, I do. I spent $150 on an interface to capture video so I can either stream or record scrims and competitions...also to make montages, tutorials...you get the idea. It's nice to have, but having that constantly recording and saving to cloud storage means I don't have to THINK about recording first - instead of going "crap, that went really well and I didn't record it", you just go back and save the clip. PLUS I wouldn't have to always have my console tethered to my desktop. It's really the ONLY feature of xbox one that I DO want.
Aside from that, I already have the hardware I need to do such stuff, even if it's a little less convenient. PS4 is looking like the winner this go 'round. My only real complaint is that I'd have to start over in a different community for the games I try to be competitive in.

Just had an interesting discussion about the PS4 and DRM. Basically if you read between the lines all Sony have really said is that they wont be enforcing DRM at a system level. Pubs could still use a pass system much like they do now and you're no better off. Just a thought.

publishers have already been doing it to an extent. EA & Ubisoft already link the ability to access multiplayer to your gamertag. So if you buy the game used, you can play single player all you want...but you gotta pay them to get online. As much as I hate it, I don't begrudge them on that, so long as they use the additional revenue to keep their online services top-notch (looking at you, Ubisoft - epic fail). It's an understandable tactic. But just not being able to play a game AT ALL without checking in daily? Look how well that sort of thing worked out for Diablo and SimCity.

Oh sure, this is purely a topic for debate here and the online check in thing is pretty lame and the potential for service blackouts is a worry. Point I'm making is what if they went the full hog and made it an offline pass mush like ye olde worlde CD keys? The pubs could do that and Sony can still claim that they have a DRM free console as it isn't locked at the hardware level. Could Sony block EA for example from releasing DRM loaded titles?

Hmm. Well if you have a twitter account, you could always ask Shuhei Yoshida if someone hasn't asked him already. He's been answering everyones questions since the conference.

I think Sony is skirting around the DRM issue to get consoles sold, then when the publishers enforce it they will just through their hands in the air and say.. yeah...well they are making us do this... at least MS is coming out and saying hey... this is where the industry is heading..

And if one thing could be garnered from the X1 launch its that EA are very much in bed with MS...

Pretty sure Sony is winning this battle...And I think the console sales will show that around the holiday season.
I'll probably pre-order the PS4 at some point, and buy the XB1 later if the Exclusives are worth it.

I have a feeling you're one of the young and loud people who post stuff like I'm boycotting MS, they're gonna fail, wah wah. I honestly don't see why some folks are getting their panties in a knot. It seems like they're making it more like Steam, which is good. Cutting out middlemen, brick and mortar stores, and the need for anything other than digital distribution is good and progressive; it's going to lead to better games in the long long run. How long did you honestly think a store like Gamestop would exist?
Does Sony own Gamespot? Their articles lately have had massive spin.

Sounds like it. It's a bit foolish to think that both systems will be fundamentally different when it comes to that issue. Continue drinking the Kool-Aid though...geez, you overtly vocal and one-sided opinion people sound like the neo-cons on HCPP.
