The only place you could do burn outs, in my area, was on Ocean Parkway.... that runs past Dead Hooker Beach.
Unfortunately, since they found all those dead hookers, the police put cameras up and, no more drag racing on Ocean Parkway...

Back in the day, I did 110mph in a Grand Torino, on Ocean Parkway... the memories!

Hey gang. I don't have any burnout vids for you today, but I was at the shop recently to have the timing adjusted on one of my cars to dial out a stumble I was getting off the line.
For testing purposes, I did a series of 3 mini-launches and made adjustments as needed: a light power brake, off the line, and a rolling start. I had to take it easy because the police station is a few blocks away, and there are other cars and and people walking around with phones and stuff. There's a slight hiccup at the beginning of the light power brake, but we made an adjustment after that.

YES, keeping ones badass machinery finely tuned is a must! And doing those tests... well that the only way to be fucking sure, sir.

Yeah, it's not one of those deals where you drive the car to the shop and they fix it and you pay your bill and go.
I've been in once a week for the past 3 weeks or so. Bring the car in, tear around for a bit, bring it back, make adjustments, and repeat. Then let the car sit for a few days, see how it cold starts, bring it out to the country roads and drive it hard as hell. Then back to the shop again until everything is right.

Lol, did they send you video from the shop's outdoor security cam or something?

I set up my go pro cam on a tripod on top of another customers truck, then set it on the ground for the mini power brake at the beginning.

Yup... good old school mechanics stuff... Carb tuning, points, timing... etc.. the right plugs, fuel, etc.
Its one thing if you just drive around town casual. You want it to start & run reliably.. But to milk extra HP or Mileage, you tweaked shit.
Have you ever tried swapping in an electronic ignition system?

It has electronic ignition. In fact, I just replaced the module in June. My alternator failed and killed the voltage regulator, electronic ignition, temp gauge, starter relay, and a pair of fusible links. It took a while to get that mess sorted out.

Hi gang, another round of burnouts!
These will probably be my last of the year, as it's snow tire time. And what better way to break in snow tires than to burn their balls off!
Later gator!

fuck it. couldn't resist. glorious and the engine sounds great!
my driver's ed car in high school was an early 80s LTD (1980 i think?) with a pretty impressive V8.
you need to get some tire spinning camera angles on your next burnout like this:

Ha! Just this week I ordered another go pro cam and mounting hardware so I can do just that.
My favorite youtube channel is junkerup, and he often follows his in-car burnout vids with with smoking tire shots. He posted an amazing Charger vid last week doing just that, and I gotta try and do something similar.
Edit: here it is.
Cued up to the good part. Pounding the streets in Las Vegas.

It only took 6 months, but here's my first attempt at a two cam tire spinning vid. I hit a bump and the outdoor cam mount moved toward the end of the vid, but it's a start.
I need to secure it better next time. At least it didn't fall off the car.
