I need to lose a few pounds myself. At my heaviest I was 250 at 6' 2". I'm down to 225 at the moment and already feel way better. Ive been lazy though, and I've been stuck at 225 for a few months. I want to be 190-200 ideally. I feel like I'm in ok shape for 45 but yeah I could do better.

I lost 5lbs this week doing nothing but changing how and what I eat.

Fuck, I'm hungry.

While we have to burn more calories than we intake to lose weight, we can train our body to burn fat instead of store it...making it easier to lose weight and actually (potentially) getting to eat more but still get lighter.

carbs make you hungry so then you eat more.
too many carbs get stored as fat. (insulin tells the body to store carbs)
we have to work harder to burn those calories.

end result is usually we're hungry and don't lose much weight or gain it back in short order.

I do light exorcise and am hardly ever hungry. I haven't lost any weight recently but haven't been trying to really.
I eat hamburgers and burritos and nuts and salads too but cut the simple carbs way back.

I know if I stop eating burgers for a couple of weeks i'll lose more weight. I'm pretty sedentary and eat a shit tone of calories but haven't gained any weight.

Really glad to see this thread took off, and really sad that my job situation has kept me from being able to participate.

I haven't had a chance to read much of it, but it looks like there's good stuff from quite a few forumites here - will come back and read asap.

As for me, stress has been a good motivator for weight loss. I went almost two weeks without eating a whole lot, and I've lost some serious (almost scary) poundage. I'm down almost 70 lbs from where I started back in Sept, and feeling a hell of a lot better. Continuing to go to the gym has been really helpful, too :thu:

Just had a doctors visit. All my numbers are fine except the one that makes me look really fat. That number went up significantly in the past 3 months.

Time to get out of my funk and take care of this shit.... again.

3 weeks ago I upped my Vitamin D to 5000 units and started taking a B12 pill. Since then, my energy has increased and my lethargy is all but gone. Hopefully i can do this. It's hard after doing this a few times before and relapsing.

Give me inspiration people...

Simplest advice I can give you is to get a trainer. Ask them to work your core. With your money and time involved, along with somebody else waiting on your ass to get out of bed, you're way more likely to stick with it.

Also, proper diet and rest can do a ton for you. Along with trying to maintain a generally tight schedule. It's easier to stay on top of the details and look after yourself that way.

Alright dudes. I'm 24 days into changing the way I eat and nothing else. Very little sugar (other than beer), no bread, no pasta. Basically counting carbs.

I started at 215 and today I'm 204. My belt is out of room for adjustment, need a smaller one. My wife is super impressed already with the visible improvement. Other people have noticed as well. I can tell a difference looking in the mirror and that's motivation enough to keep going.

I also feel better in general and feel like I sleep better. At this rate I will be a happy dude in a couple months. Hopefully it doesn't stall out.

You guys motivated me to do this, so THANK YOU. :rawk: :rawk:

Who's in The Stick Figures Club with me? Dave?

I've always been on the opposite end of the spectrum. It takes me a lot of work to gain weight. I can work for 6 months to put on 10 pounds of lean muscle weight and will lose most of it in 2 if I fall out of my routine.

I guess I should stop complaining.

1) Nope. I weed. I can eat and eat and drink beers and beers and it barely affects me.

2) That's not the kind of weight that I would like to keep on.

Anyway, I'm a total ass for coming in here like this so I'm gonna go now.

Mike, wait until to hit your late 30s and early 40s. It just keeps adding up. I remember my family members saying it will catch up with us all. I'll be damned if they weren't right. :bang:

Exactly. I was the same way. Ate whatever I wanted, never put on weight. I have pretty much quit weed except for the odd occasion. It's the only reason I'm finally losing weight

Dang.

I honestly didn't have high hopes going into this but even if I never lose another pound at least I'm not poisoning my body with sugar and processed bullshit at this point. I had no idea sugar was in EVERYTHING until I started looking at labels. No more fast food or any junk food included.

I have had chronic heartburn for years. Went to the DR. He prescribed some expensive bullshit after doing an Endoscopy. I quit taking that shit a long time ago. Guess what? I haven't had heartburn ONCE since doing this low carb thing. Fucking amazing. Energy is through the roof too. I wanna chase teenagers down the street and punch em in teh nutz! :rawk:

I'm glad I don't have chronic problems or anything like that. I've just become soft by sitting around in the office and not doing physical stuff. And, I've remained fat by eating large portions and slipping "innocent" deserts in here and there. It's easy to just lose hope when you're stuck in a routine.

The routine is:
get up
eat a bagel
sit at the office
eat lunch (hope for it to be at a healthy place. Then it isn't)
sit at the office
go home, play guitar for 30 minutes. (or do laundry, or mow lawn, or go to post office)
cook dinner for family
eat dinner (something relatively healthy, then eat like 2 gigantic plates of it)
put baby to bed
sit and watch tv for an hour with wife (eat a few hundred unnecessary calories here)
go to bed

It's HARD to break a routine. :(

I know I can cut the post dinner snacking, but it's hard.
The bummer is that 30 free minutes isn't enough time to get to the gym. :( of course, this is an excuse, but I'm a bum. I'm lazy, and it's all about trying to take care of the family. (which leads to a preacher of some sort saying "taking care of your family should start with taking care of your health".)

I just can't deal with anything any longer at the moment. :(

I'm not feeling motivated at work. (not that I don't have energy, it's that I just don't care.)
I'm tired of the house having problems.
I'm tired of not being in a band
I'm tired of my clothes fitting like shit
I'm tired of advil commercials showing super human athletes who supposedly have "pain". YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT PAIN IS!
Image

I EAT TOO MUCH PIZZA DAMMIT! I liked it when I was drunk constantly, but that's over. :( Now, I'm just fucking bored. I used to run around the park. Now, I hate running. I used to cycle, now my wife hates cycling.
