Gupta says

Do you need to wear a mask outside? Dr. Sanjay Gupta answers.
From CNN's Adrienne Vogt

CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta answered viewer questions about wearing masks outdoors, eating indoors and vaccination numbers on CNN's "New Day."

Q: Do people need to wear masks outside, particularly those who are vaccinated?

A: The vast majority of Covid-19 transmission is not happening outdoors, according to Gupta. Less than 10% of cases happen outside and it is nearly 19 times more likely for transmission to occur indoors, he said.

“For the most part, you don't need to wear a mask outdoors,” Gupta said.

But people need to use “common sense,” he said, and should consider if they will be clustered together and the case rate in their area.

“The real question you need to try to answer: what is the likelihood I'm going to breathe in someone else's air? That's basically it. The number of people, type of setting … and what is the overall viral spread in their community,” Gupta said.

It’s not news that you don’t need masks outdoors (for the vast amount of circumstances) however it’s a year later that this information is being broadcast.

How many people would have experienced less stress knowing that when they step outside they’re safer than anywhere else they might find themselves? Wouldn’t those moments of relief been helpful and maybe if encouraged to be enjoyed resulted in less overall suffering?

Drives me up a wall.

I've been under that assumption the entire time. Can't say for sure if I arrived there by way of common sense or "expert" commentary, but none of this strikes me as new information...

Same. We've been to parks and outdoor areas throughout this pandemic and we didn't wear masks unless we were in close proximity to other people. I've been wearing a neck gaiter for the entirety of this pandemic and I pull it up when I am indoors or in a crowd outdoors. Been doing this from day one.

I think it depends on where you live a little bit because L.A. County has had some of the stupidest guidance and restrictions in place for a very long time, including masks outdoors. But also I'm pretty sure Fauci, who frequently misrepresents the data because he obviously thinks we're all too stupid to properly digest it and make decisions for ourselves, has said it's best to just keep the mask on outside. Oh by the way make it a double. :wank:

I was doing the neck gaiters for a while too until there was some study that said they're not as effective and we have some really concerned people at my work so I decided to wear the other type to make them feel better. But the gaiters were great and convenient.

you can't step foot outside here without tripping over landscaping crews or Tent crackheads or dogshit . It's still masky time for the most part more or less . But I've been pretty much playing along to these rules like a good sheep . It's painless and easy to comply so We've been full on in all this time. :idk: :usa:

Yeah I think it was the final layer to fully disconnect him from average people. He used to be able to understand average people but he’s long gone at this point.

Which is too bad I used to really enjoy his podcast but it’s like he got rid of all the good parts and turned the shitty parts up to 11 in place of them.

Got the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine a week ago. I had a sore arm the next morning, but not sore enough to stop me from my normal Friday weight session. Otherwise, nothing...

I've heard the second shot is tougher, but my 81 year old Mom had no issues except the standard sore arm after the second shot...

My sister just had her second dose of pfizer last Sunday, and just like me, she felt like a truck hit her for 2 days. Most of the people I know who are having the same issues after dose 2 are in their 30's and 40's, meanwhile parents and in laws who are in their 60's-70's have been fine with both shots.

I'm 45, and had nothing but a sore arm and some fatigue after the second Pfizer shot. Lasted about a day, and I've been fine since. I'm guessing it just depends on each individual person. :idk:
