METEOR 2020!

So, somebody in the plant started coughing and they immediately marched her in and put her in the empty office in front of our cubes. You know, I'm sure with all the wood dust that all coughs and sneezes in the plant are immediately going to be corona virus. Anyway, HR decided that office is quarantine for suspected infected, and the girl that sits closest to that office is losing her shit. Like screaming f'bombs at the head of HR losing it.

I'm not exactly sure marching suspected ill all the way though the plant and then down the hallway of offices is the right move, but :idk: . Maybe next they can have them come give us each a kiss before they leave?

Can someone explain to my why it's the media's fault that people are freaking out and overreacting? Has the media told people to buy 3 years worth of toilet paper? No. So why is it the media's fault when someone does exactly that? Has the media told people to buy up all of the bottled water and hand sanitizer in sight? No. So again, why is it the media's fault when someone does exactly that?

The funny thing is that the people accusing the media of causing panic are THE VERY SAME PEOPLE who would be screaming "Media Cover Up!" if the media weren't covering it 24/7. The tinfoil hat crowd is going to find a conspiracy wherever they look, they can't so much as walk to their mailbox and back without dreaming up another Deep State fantasy. Apparently the Deep State runs so "deep" that 60,000 Italians are in on it.

It doesn't help much that they literally picked the most panicky person in the whole place to park the quarantine in front of. I swear she can take the most miniscule problem and turn it into a huge panic attack.

There was one time she was super busy and literally melted down over how busy she was. Started talking to herself all high pitched and freaking out and then passed out from it.

I'm half thinking this keeps up I'll just take the laptop home to work. Ain't much concentration going on with everybody all in a tizzy every few minutes.

Just a matter of time before we grow accustomed to this (too) and the panic-buying slows down. I hope it's sooner and not later. As I said before, I'm scared of other people more than I am of the virus itself. The level of ignorance, greed, and fear are no longer amusing anymore.

well Bars have been told to close up shop, restaurants can only operation take away and curb side pick up, schools are closed till more or less the end of April and no gatherings larger than 25 people..... also from midnight tomorrow our borders are closed with only Trinidad Nationals being allowed to enter with exceptions specially approved foreigners.....

so... that's how it's gonna be for a bit.... my main fear right now is Venezuelans illegally entering as they've been doing for years now since they are in the early stages of an outbreak.....

Our hospital is still full steam ahead on all hearts. The blood bank saying yea or nay is usually a good prognosticator for how shitty something is going to be. Hurricane or even a tropical storm? Shit is locked down. For now it's open season. I don't doubt things will get shutdown soon, but there's still some time.

Good thing I stocked up on processed cheese. There's no toilet paper so at least I can get super constipated and shit a log sometime in April or May

Uh oh . . . the virus bringing out the good in people based on these headlines:

"Steph and Ayesha Curry will help provide 1M meals to Oakland students impacted by coronavirus school closures"

and

"Distilleries are making hand sanitizer with their alcohol, giving it out for free to combat coronavirus"

Shit is getting interesting and probably headed downhill even more during the coming weeks. Grocery store stock is laughable at our local Winco. Pretty much NO fresh meat, frozen meat, chicken, canned or frozen veggies, soap, wipe, etc. Grabbed 10 cases of beer is all and the Cashier was smiling and she asked if she could drop by when everything is closed down. LOL.
I work at a big Hospital in Spokane in an CICU and we are 1 of I think 11 Hospitals in the Nation with a Special Pathogen Unit where we did receive 4 Covid cases and they were placed in negative pressure rooms isolated from the General Hospital. Now the CDC is downplaying recommendations on masks- (surgical masks are now OK) even though the virus measurements can easily pass through a surgical mask. No more negative pressure rooms required, just close the door. If we have a huge influx of Patients and are not protected, watch out for Doctors and RN's to bail and protect themselves and Family.
I say quarantine now and flatten the curve. China did it and through reports it has worked and now Italy is learning this. Not sure how the US would cope with a quarantine and suspect the National Guard would have to be called upon. Crazy times going into uncharted waters.

DJIA down 2644 right now. over 11%. I have a feeling this may trip the 13% circuit breaker in the next 25 minutes before market close.

More gunshots nearby.

Groceries are wiped out of meat and veggies. No more half and half for my coffee. (wife went for more milk and baby goods.)

I don't like this. My 3.5 y/o is starting to wonder what's going on.

This is the type of stuff that's causing the panic to rise. I mean, I get it. It's probably a good idea from a safety standpoint, but the people that work these places being out a paycheck while this is going on? That's gonna be one of those double plus ungood things.

I wont blame then for people overstocking shit but the media is beating the drum whenever someone gets the virus or a virus "update" - if we did this VERY SAME THING everytime someone got the flu (during most winters) and gacve updates or said then they died it would be a 24/7 total shitshow but were doing it with this and its scaring the hell out of people

I was having a discussion with people at the gym (before it closes today for weeks) and we were saying that If 100,000 get the corona virus - most be just fine and have symptoms of a regular flu. (statistics show a rate of about .05%) Is it dangerous and should you proceed with caution? of course but with the 24.7 new cycle it sounds like 90,000 will die f they get the virus, so yes the media is beating the drums a little to many people

Yup. Fed cut the interest rate to 0% for the Banks to Borrow. NO help here as the Market reacted. Should have set up an acct to pay service industry workers whom now have no income and lost their paychecks through no self fault. F'd up priorities for the selected few ignoring the Public welfare.
