Personally, I'm going with pyrethrins and carburetor cleaner (generally xylene/tolulene). I've seen normal hornets die in mid-air from both of those.

We used to have a weed burner, it held about a pint of kerosene, had a pump-up air tank and sprayed a tiny mist through the burner can. It didn't last long, but it did put out about an 18" yellow blaze on the far end. Imagine a rake-length tool with a weedeater grip, roaring pressurized kero at your feet. Eventually rusted out, haven't seen one since.
