lol..this.... sounds like you're more partial to Bourbons, most of the ones I've had are too sweet for me but to each their own.. Before you write of scotch do yourself a favour and try Glenmorangie, I really love their 10 year old as well as the 12 year olds that have been aged in different casks, I find the 10 year old a smoother drink that if you plan on drinking for an extended period its great... the 12 year olds can be fairly rich in flavour and like a rich desert can be a bit much after 3 or 4 glasses...

^ I totally agree....Jameson is a great Irish Whiskey, I've just had their standard blend and none of the higher end offerings though but if they are anything like they standard blend they can't be bad at all.

I had it once and liked it. Much more than regular JB (which I don't like)

Picked up some of that Jack Daniel's Honey Whiskey tonight. Never tried any honey whiskey before, always figured it would be way too sweet and it is pretty sweet but also pretty tasty. I'm digging it.

I thought JD honey was too sweet if you're shooting or sipping (goes down smooth though), good for mixing.
what about Crown Royal Maple? Anyone try it? Thoughts?

If youre loving JD Honey, then a straight "whiskey" (blanket alcohol type) might not make you happy...
If you wanna stretch your boundaries, here is whats out there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whisky
Your more BASIC types are Bourbon, Scotch, & maybe Irish or canadian. There are others, but if youre educating yourself, dont listen to peoples favorites; try the mainstay BASICS, or whatever your drinking friends have around & THEN branch out based on what you like.

Some starting points could be:
Bourbon: Wild Turkey, Beam, Jack Daniels is kinda close to bourbon.
Scotch: Johnny Walker or various blends or single malts.

You get the idea, but really its kind of a journey, just like finding a favorite band or something. Nobody elses favorites fit, you gotta find your own & enjoy trying stuff out.. ;)

That looks like more of a malt liquor.
