I have a Subaru and I'll agree that the brakes are soft. I can't gel with your other points though. My wife has a CX-5 and the interior is definitely cooler on the Mazda's, but i wouldn't say any better quality really.
PS: I love your car.
CX-5 =\= MS3.
That's like comparing the interior of a base Impreza to a BRZ STI
Do you agree with what I said about the different gear boxes? That was the biggest deal breaker for me.
I'm not talking cool factor, i'm talking quality. When you said the interior of the Subaru was cheap, i assumed you meant flimsy plastic, loose joints and all of that stuff. If you are talking strictly about how awesome an interior is, Mazda wins that all around. Even on their "normal" products.
I have never driven the new BRZ or WRX, so i can't comment on them particularly in comparison to the MS3. I pretty much had to go automatic this time due to my time in traffic, so i had to sell my manual Tacoma. It got to me a pain in my wrist. Oddly, i prefer my CVT to my wifes Auto. Subaru is the only company that does a CVT right. I digress...

6'2" 220 here, Have a Mazda 3 5 door and have no problem getting in and out. I don't ever have anyone in the back seats so I'm able to lean it back. I feel more claustrophobic in my F500 truck.
