Thanks Ryan, Mike, and everyone else!

Things have been getting progressively worse with his symptoms, but we were able to get in to see a doctor this week, which was a miracle - and all thanks to a very good friend from church who happens to be married to a neurologist. We really like the doctor, and he did a great job of explaining what is probably going on (they're thinking there's 3 possibilities) and what we may be in for. The great thing is that they were able to do a lot of heavy lifting quickly to get more diagnostics scheduled so that they can do a targeted biopsy next week. He told us that there is a medication they can give him that will likely make the symptoms subside, but we can't give it to him yet because it would interfere with the results from the biopsy. So, we have about 6 days to go with his condition worsening. He's fallen twice now, and is having a lot of trouble moving around and his talking has vastly subsided. We're concerned that he's becoming depressed.

Meanwhile, I'm having to hack through all the shit he's automated in the house (lights, etc.), his automated bill payments, and his many other online accounts. Also taking time to fix things around the hosue he hadn't gotten around to - anything to make things easier on my mom.

Greg and Mike (Itchy and Ruboto) got me to meet them in a jam room and gave me the best 20 minutes I've had in a long time. And while no homo action occurred, I got to play some seriously cool TGP-level vintage gear and jam a bit with Mike, which was so much fun. Those guys and so many on this board are such great friends. This place is a true blessing.

I had another very good friend of mine (who I've known since the early 70s) come over yesterday afternoon. We had a few beers out at the curb, talked, laughed, told stories, and generally helped my stress level. Was a good afternoon.

Unfortunately, however, my dad started declining rapidly almost as soon as I got back in the house. By 7:00, he wasn't able to walk/move, chew his food, etc. When we could see his right arm had lost all of it's strength, we called 911 and got the paramedics out here. They were concerned about it being a stroke, and took him to the hospital, where they confirmed the diagnosis. Covid wouldn't let either my mom or me in to be with him, so we wait.

We got the call from the oncologist last night. The final report from the biopsy they did shows that nothing can be done because the type and severity of the cancer is so bad that they can't do anything to prolong or improve his quality of life. We'll be working with the hospital and hospice to get him discharged and brought home over the next day or two.
