On a related note; it is a shame that Jackie Chan was wasted on that horrible remake. He actually did the character of Mr. Miyagi real justice. Despite the rest of it being a piece of crap.

I never saw the reboot.

I have the Next Karate Kid, but I have never gotten more than 5 minutes into it.

I'm willing to bet Terry comes back in CK season 2. He probably runs the EPA. Johnny will need to be bailed out for something. Quicksilver to the rescue.

We have one episode left. It is AMAZINGLY awesome!

I remember being a 12 year old kid and rooting for Johnny to beat the crap out of that whiny punk from Jersey. That said, I have no desire to pay one red cent to buy YT Red for one nostalgic show OR commercial free music. Well played YouTube, well played.

But you can watch this show for free. The first couple of episodes are on regular youtube, right now they have a free 30 day subscription so you can watch the rest. Then you can cancel after that.

But it baffles me how people watch youtube without an ad blocker though. I couldn't do it. Hell I wouldn't even browse this forum without one. Everything I watch is commercial free, so for me, youtube red is completely pointless, except for the exclusive content but aside from this show I don't give a shit about.

Finished up last night. Excellent. Only gripe:
I didn't like them making Miguel a bad guy. I get it and all; but it muddied the waters a bit too much for my tastes. Minor nitpick. Johnn'y son's character turned out good. Seeing Kreese was not unexpected. I almost expected to see Shue pop up at some point too but maybe next season.

I agree with all of this PLUS they made Miguel kind of HALF a bad guy. Like he doesn't even get that he's turned into a poop...

Miguel doesn't know he has turned into a monster. As far as he knows, Samantha is a Larusso, so she isn't to be trusted. It looked like she fell in love with Robby. Miguel thinks Johnny doesn't like Robby, so there's that. He has tasted confidence/victory/dominance. All of his dreams are coming true because of Johnny. Plus, defeat doesn't exist anymore. I know they kind of rushed his transformation, but it's a mini series. You've gotta do what you can with the limited time to develop/transform characters. In his mind he hasn't really done anything wrong. Plus, at the party, he was drunk.

I went back and watched every scene I loved. It was funny hearing Johnny's side of the story with Daniel and Ali. His memories were a bit fuzzy, but he wasn't totally wrong.

BTW, Miguel's SJW friend was a complete choad, but his dialogue was priceless.

That whole exchange at the bar was great. The writers did a great job overall of flipping the script on how the acts leading up to the show were perceived so differently by both parties.

When they look up Ali's husband. They guy is obviously badass, and Johnny goes "look at that dumb face."

I was actually p!ssed when they went back to Daniel's "dojo" and the kid interrupted them actually getting along Next season needs more scenes like the bar scene and the Speedwagon scene

When it comes down to it, Johnny and Daniel need each other. Johnny legit congratulated Daniel for winning in KK1 when he handed him the trophy. It's like Ozzy and Tony Iommi. They hated each other growing up, but their bond was bigger than that.

When Johnny left the CK flyers up by the billboard, that was no mistake. He wouldn't do a prank without leaving a calling card. He's a man of honor. Like he said about teasing people to their faces.

Just finished. Binged it, hard. Satisfied. Hawk for president.

I wish the little kid that looked like Wormser from Revenge of the Nerds didn't get laid out so quick.

So, I'm rewatching seasons 1 and 2 in prep for whenever season 3 comes out.

There some super interesting theories out there.

1. Terry Silver could be Miguel's Dad. Bad man who did bad things. Terry may have been in Ecuador to avoid extradition for the toxic waste stuff??

2. could the "Mike" on the phone be Mike Barnes when Johnny gets fired after installing the TV wrong?

3. Hillary Swank COULD have trained with Daniel. There is a hint that there was another student at Miyagi Do. Also, how could Daniel know the balance wheel without a partner student when he trained?FWIW, I haven't seen The Next Karate Kid. I may have to watch it. I heard it sucks.


There are some more obvious things out there right now.

I kinda am watching this. I'll sit down for a couple episodes every other week. It's the only TV I've been able to watch (can't stomach most of it) that the fam has had on that I happened to pay attention to. Fun show.

Terry Silver is without a doubt one of the worst characters in any film ever. I tried re-watching Karate Kid III a while back and holy hell. Terrible.

When this show popped up 2 years ago I didn't even think twice about watching it.

Honestly so happy it came to Netflix. This is exactly the kind of entertainment I need during this fucked up year.
I'm truly impressed with how well they've managed to patch this whole thing into a really interesting fucking story. I really don't think I've ever rooted for a redemption arc harder in a series than Johnny's.

I think I binged both seasons of this show within a week. I'm probably going to give it another go shortly. I just love how much complexity and perspective taking they're giving this, weirdly both refreshing and nostalgia inducing all at once.

Yeah great show. Watched both seasons a couple weeks ago. It's cheesy in a huge sense but also highly entertaining with an ever evolving plot. I like how there really isn't a clear hero/antagonist dynamic between between Daniel, Johnny or any of their students. They all have their ups and downs... well that is until Kreese took over Cobra Kai
