Not saying this is you, it just kind of blows my mind how dumb people are.
Because they actually ARE drunken rednecks and hillbillys!

Drunken white people who live a different lifestyle then you? Gotcha.
That must mean all black people that live a different lifestyle than you are all n-words?
All people who have a different sexual preference than you are phags?
All middle eastern people are muslim terrorists?
You just proved my point, actually.

Would the make the British phags, also, because they put phags in their mouth?

I guess it's because it refers more to a certain behavior/style than to an ethnic group... it happens with Latinos too, with some folks being called chollos, I won't be offended by that one because I know it refers to a very specific style (the whole pseudo-thug schtick) that I really don't identify myself with, even though I am also Latino...
The funny part is that a lot of these guys (rednecks and chollos alike) wear the label with pride

They do, for sure...But, so do, pardon me for using this word, niggas...I mean, they are proud to say that shit ALL...THE...TIME...to each other, about each other, etc...But yet, you still get labeled a bigot if you mention anything remotely similar to that about that type of black person...I just don't see the difference between that, and the using the term redneck in a derogatory fashion. It's really the same exact thing...only one will get you lambasted or worse, and the other will get many people piling on the pile of insults...
BTW, "fag" refers to a certain behavior and style too...yet you're still a bigot if you say that, am I right?

And I know PLENTY of gay people who wear that label with "pride"

Just an observation I've noticed recently.

Perhaps we should leave it there, before the PC police come in and slam me against the wall.

BTW, no...I'm not a redneck.

1. Because that term only in recent usage has come to mean a "certain type" of black person. It was originally used to denote ALL black people and used by many even up to current day to describe blacks in a derogatory manner. I'm not sure how because some misguided black folk have decided adopting the word for their own use somehow makes it ok for those who used it for decades as a generic derogatory term.
2. Again, with fag, its in general a derogatory term. Do some gay people use it? Often like a certain word is used with blacks? Yup. I suppose its the idea that using a derogatory term takes "ownership" of it. But in general, that's only among the population, not "outsiders."
Around here, redneck is more descriptor than anything. You usually put "dumbass" in front of it to make it derogatory.

Fuck it

I was just making an observation about how I think it's funny that people who generally preach acceptance label a group of people different than them in derogatory fashion...Guess it's just me who notices that.

Carry on...my wayward sons?

Naw, I'm not saying I'm right in feeling that way. I'm just sick of the absolute pieces of trash that live around here. Pathetic useless entitled assholes that blame their problems on people who look different than them.
Screw em.

I'm also sick and tired of hearing people who look different referred to in terms that no one would say to the party in questions face. Just sick of racist fucks and there's just too many of them around here.

Fine with me to take the discussion to whatever direction you guys want to (as long as it stays respectful and within the rules) but yeah I'm moving it to the "Hot" forum as seems to be a better fit for it now. But carry on.

I'm half White and half Latino and what's strange about it is that neither Whites nor Latinos associate me with their race. When I'm in a room full of white people they see me as Latino. When I'm in a room full of Latinos they see me as White. Personally I feel able to relate to both but I'm a bit race-displaced which is fine with me. At the end of the day I'm just a standing monkey like everyone else.

I've noticed this with every single mixed race person I've been friend with (well the 2 exceptions are those who's mix you can't even recognize).
Kind of sucks sometimes I'm sure. I specifically noticed this with my black/white friends more than any other.
