6. 2112 (hard to pick one as well because I love 80s era as well)
7. Regatta De Blanc (tough to choose just one)

9. Strapping Young Lad---City
10. The Real Thing

Nirvana got me interested in playing..... started on bass for whatever reason I was most intrigued by it... but a few years later Alice in Chains and then Pink Floyd made me put down the bass and pick up guitar.... hadn't played bass in a band since 2005 till last year

Zero f**ks given. I came up listening to Lee, Butler, Burton and Harris then Flea and Claypool and Bill Gould from Faith No More. I'd play bass in the right situation and be excited about the prospect.

Got wind of these guys with their earlier albums a bit before this came out, but this record absolutely changed me. The first track "Rapture" is still my all time favorite song. I truly believe it's a masterpiece

Lol! Douglas, GA. Deep, flat, South Georgia. Only one radio station (not counting country, because country! ), WDMG. The "Worst Damn Music in Georgia." Robot disc jockies. The same fifteen songs, in the same order, 24/7.

Btw, you got me -- I'm 46. Dogman, I discovered in my mid-twenties, though.

Everything before and after is secondary, really.
I mean, other stuff has swayed me/influenced me one way or another over the years (Pantera, Type O Negative, The Smiths, This Will Destroy You, Juliana Hatfield, Poison, Cocteau Twins, etc), but Nirvana was the single catalyst that started it all.

I'll be 46 this summer Drae. I know them impending old-man status feels

Haha. I shamelessly love that band, but most of my impressionability as a guitarist was pretty baked by Nookie-era.

Three Dollar Bill is a MUCH better record from them. I'd even maybe credit it as an influence for me getting into the two-handed rhythmic tapping stuff... Borland's playing was super creative, and they almost sounded like Primus, Funkdoobiest, and Suicidal Tendencies had a Rap Baby.

That band was so fun back then.

Pyromania made me think guitars were cool, but this album changed everything.

I have seen Soundgarden more than any other band. Always outstanding.

The Outlaw Country, Homobilly Deluxe album. It changed my life. Had me inspired as fuck on adderall at Lumineers concerts and clawing at the chance to ditch my pedals for a Helix.

It was the 80's. Mistakes were made.

I was there, too, Yarb. Dude, I'm guilty of liking a little bit of the Def Leppard stuff, but it just isn't.... natural.... putting those two albums in the same breath.

Pyromania (for me) was DL jumping the shark. There was some good material on their first 2 albums, and a couple of gems on Pyro (the change on Foolin' is kinda bad-ass), but that's about it. Fakking pure commercial pour some sugar on it and light it on fire.

I do like Boston, but not enough to enter into this discussion.

This one song (for me) is enough to say that Piece of Mind is a masterpiece. Definitely on my "desert island" playlist.

...and, as an additional note - this is coming from someone who favors Paul over Bruce.
