I loved season 2.
This show seems to have found itself. Really great stuff.

Re: Ozark on Netflex
^Agreed. I’ve always liked Jason Bateman though. He was awesome in Extract.
Re: Ozark on Netflex
Darlene is scarier than the cartel.
Re: Ozark on Netflex
Keep meaning to watch season 2, I enjoyed the first one. I might have to wait until after this semester though.

We liked it much more than the first.
High drama this season.

Re: Ozark on Netflex
man... season 2 brought it.... Season 1 was great and I thought we'd get the "sophomore slump" with season 2 because Season 1 would be hard to follow, but Season 2 delivered the goods... I like a show that's not afraid to kill off people, no matter how important or insane it may seem to kill them and the new characters were great... that Cartel lawyer is a solid addition to the cast and the transformation of the kids, how they deal with knowing their parents are criminals was realllllly well done.... I'm really looking forward to season 3 now with the only problem being now my expectations are really high so I hope I'm not let down.

TBH the actual ozarks get way more "ozark" than the lake. I would see this type of thing more towards Southern MO/AR area than the Lake.
But wherever they filmed it does really look like the area so I am sold and would not have known.

Man, I disgree. We don't have the big pines like that around here, the water is wayyyyyyy too nice looking, and a majority of that lake has been developed. They have scenes of them running in boats and there's not a house in sight. Not realistic for LOTO.
Maybe I am confused or not understanding but that is why I say the tv show is more similar to Bull Shoals or something a little more southern, MO. Plus if someone were to have a huge Heroin operation type of thing.
Either way they absolutely nailed the characters.

Re: Ozark on Netflex
So I started to rewatch Season 1 out of bordom last night. Not trying to say I told you so but during the scene where they killed his partner and he was trying to convince Cartel dude that he could make him money if he let him live, he was talking about the shoreline and said southern MO.
Re: Ozark on Netflex
ok I finished Season 2 last night. Here are my dumb thoughts.
Great premise. Episodes 1 and 2 were outstanding. Money laundering Jason Bateman fish out of water story is a win.
Casting - giving a B here. Some problems. The daughter, Charlotte, is 19 now which would make her around 17 at the time of shooting. She was supposed to be 15. This kind of matters because it's part of the plot. Ruth Langmore is a 24 year old playing a 19 year old, and it shows. Jason Bateman is good, Laura Linney's ok, the Snells were great, Del was a bit cartoony but I guess he was supposed to be.
Dialogue - C - everyone talks the fucking same in this fucking show, except the Langmores, who curse a little more.
Story - B-. Someone said there is a lot of intrigue that goes nowhere. Bingo. Lots of exhausting bullshit that some might call "slow burn" but I call boring. I skipped a bunch of episodes in season 2 and fast forwarded some scenes with moron actors pretending to stare each other down. Ruth's dad and the cartel lawyer are particularly tedious. The ending of Season 2 sucked. Hardly any of the characters' motivations are remotely believable anymore. There is no way Charlotte or Wendy could be that dumb. And they might as well have named that baby Seven for all the value he added to the series. Darlene seemed to be headed for something huge, and the end was meh. The FBI agent was reckless to the point of unbelievability. That scene where he trashed the hotel room out of frustration was beyond dumb.
Visuals - D - the entire show is shot in dreary monocromatic blue-tinted garbage colors. Maybe they are trying to build a creepy atmosphere, but it just seems cheap and drab.
Music - B - Cutesy outdated music derivative of Better Call Saul, Orange is the New Black, and other dark quirky time-sucker tv series.
All in all I would still recommend watching, but don't feel bad at all skipping episodes. I think the writers should go back and reread some William Faulkner novels and rethink their ideas about portraying degenerate families in southern settings. This show could be so much better than it is.
