i never thought it'd be this much of a PITA to just date around, but it really is. the place i'm on has the subscription run out like mid-March, and i doubt i'll re-up. need to take a break for a while just for my own sanity.

Im glad Im married. When I was dating, I actually prefered women who DIDNT live in the same town as me. It's tough finding a woman around here who doesnt have a damn drug problem. 9 times out of ten, a single woman around here is, or was, a damn meth head.

If she's not a meth head, she's got mental issues, or a bunch of kids.

I might be reading into your OP too much RSbrah, but you said there are divorced peeps around where you live, any possibilities there, or are you avoiding them altogether?

TBQH I'm at the moment just avoiding that scene altogether. I tried my first divorce` last April/May and man what a clusterfekk. I know not all of them are like that, but I just found she was so dishonest about so many things when it came to her ex, so it would have to be a really really special lady, and def no kids if she had already been married and then split. My drummer is going through that now with his gf and her 2 kiddos and I don't think I could take it on an emotional level and let them leave and watch us fight, etc..
But I dunno- I may start considering that as an option later down the line as I know people who make it work. Just my experience was so fkn terrible it's scarred me a bit lol.

been hitting the dating scene myself after a long time out of the game. i live in the boondocks so some travelling is needed to get anywhere. still i try to keep it to 20 miles or less. the 60 miles mentioned seems a bit long to me. i guess if the chick was smoking hot and gave up the greatest sex ever then i'd think about it. honestly though seems a bit to far and between gas and hassle probably not a happening deal.

Well hell - if you had said she was Latina this thread would have gone in a completely different direction from the start.

Right now, I'm dating a girl from a college down the street. Right now, we're only about 2 miles apart, but our hometowns are about a 4.5 hour drive away. I'm hoping for the best for this summer, but we'll see...

I had a LT gf in college and I think we were together over 3 summers, and they were tough. Two years I stayed at school and worked and it was about 2.5 hrs away, but one year I went back home and it was about 3.5. It can work if you plan on staying together once the fall semester starts back up.

Depends. Post high school, I continued to date my HS sweetheart who went to college about an hour away. Gas was cheap and I was making lots of money (relatively).

Now, gas is expensive as shit and I own a home. I wouldn't go more than 20 minutes.

Luckily, I'm engaged, and we already live together, so I only have to go about 15 feet. :D

I dated this chick from Newport Beach (about 65 miles from my house) for about 6 months... it fucking sucks to live that far tbh. I wouldn't do it again.

Kind of as an update, I just actually happened upon this single mom (divorced about 4 years ago). married real young, so at least had her kid w/ her ex husband and not just floozin', but has her shiz together, lives and works less than 10 mins away from casa de RSBro. i always thought it'd be weird to "like" a mom, but it hasn't been so far. we spent 3 1/2 hours outside Starbucks last night just chattin' it up (we'd already been to lunch last week together for the first meeting). is going cool so far.

Nice. Dating a single parent is not for everyone ( I am a full time single parent myself so I've been on both sides of that fence) but if you feel that you're up to it, it can be cool.

One of the advantages of dating a divorced single mom is that most likely her biological clock is NOT ticking desperately to get married and have kids since she's already been there before. On the other hand, some of them are really looking for a father figure for their kids,l so you need to make sure that's not the case. Watch how her talk about her ex, if she is very bitter towards the guy, that's a red flag right there.

This!!! i dated a single mom who was a couple years older than me and we had a lot in common and hit it off really well and enjoyed each other a lot, but she was very very cold and bitter towards her ex and when she'd get that way it wasn't fun to be around, also the entire father figure situation can be some what awkward, especially if it's just causal dating and she's trying to make you seem like a father figure. just my .2 cents :idk:

Well as I've mentioned in this thread, and numerous times at HCAF, it never really appealed to me. My drumtard is single, never married, and is about to turn 40 so his chances of dating a never married/no kids person are just about zippo. I've seen some of his relationships over the last 3 years and they have frankly scared me to death with how the whole "family dynamic" comes into play when there's arguments, issues, etc.. I also dated a divorced/no kids chick last spring for about a month and she was an absolute nutjob. She had all the flags you mentioned, and he was still emailing/texting her all the damn time and she'd break down about it just at random-ass times and all this. It was a mess.

This girl has been sooooo freaking cool. The only times she talks about her ex is basically when I've asked or she mentions her daughter and him not picking her up on time, skipping his visitations, etc.. They were together for like 10 years (2 dating, 8 married) so she's not bitter at all about it at least to me. SHe said she tried to make him grow up, etc. but just never would so here they are. I've been watching for that big time and nothing has given me pause yet.

Also she had complications w/ her first kiddo and isn't 100% sure she wants another one, so exactly- I'm not on any sort of timeline for kids and marriage. She's also 5 years younger which is fine by me. Dating older chicks this last year I've felt way too pressured early to commit and do the whole M-word thing... DNW at this point. Anyway, we just had a random trip to Fry's last night so I could help her return a laptop she bought and didn't like, and that's the kind of stuff I miss having someone so close. Things are going good so far, and she is definitely not looking for Baby Daddy #2 which yeah, I haven't signed up for just yet lol.

Another red flag with single mothers, is "the victim" type. Most (not all) women that come from an abusive relationship carry ALOT of drama. They play the victim card. NOT cool to deal with. I had one of those briefly & got rid of her FAST. She was NUTS.
