Agreed. Our uncle got us our first Discman, along with Appetite For Destruction and Hysteria cds. Everyone wanted to hear how a cd sounded, and because I had one, I was the coolest kid in school.

Different styles, both great in their own way. And both produced well, given the types of listeners it's intended for.

Now if you were asking AFD vs High and Dry, well that might yield different results. :rawk:

Good to see someone else likes the tones on this album. :thu:

I saw them a few times on this tour (opening for Ozzy/Randy). It was while Pete Willis was still in the band, the drummer still had both arms & Joe Elliot had brown hair. The best period in the history of the band IMHO. They were totally wasted but played perfectly, and had great live tone.

GREAT album!

Hysteria does not have Axl Rose singing on it, therefore Hysteria is >.

Honestly though, how are these even comparable? I suppose both are hard rock, but very different veins of hard rock.

I realize Axl being the frontman really helped propel G'n'R to fame, but good lord I hate his voice.

Between those two I'd take Appetite. Hysteria is too overproduced and doesn't have the same fire and hunger that Pyromania and High and Dry had. If it was appetite vs either of those albums, Def Leppard all day.

I do have to say though, that between Appetite and Hysteria, Hysteria has Gods of War and that song fucking wins.

Always LOVED this song and the guitar playing, simple but catchy

This is a hard one for me (he...hehehehehe....he said hard one ...heh heh)

Def leppard was one of my fav bands in that transition era of the late 70s early 80s of hard rock. by the time the late 80s came around (heheh...heheh....he said came around...heh ...heh) rock had entered an different era. DL was (for me) on the down swing and band likes GnR were the next thing.

If I HAD to pick between the two, I'd say GnR's AfD over Hysteria.

but just for picking better albums/bands I personally like DF's first 3 albums MUCH more so if kept in context/era. They were miles ahead of everyone at the time with both raw rock and rock pop.

high and dry and pyromania rule. GAWD I'm gonna listen to them now... :rawk:

I really liked On Through The Night as well. They really kicked some ass back then.

Ummmm, that song sucks. :crap:

Even Sweet Child of Mine, the song off AFD I hate with absolute venom, destroys that song.

So much this

Anyhow, I knew Kenny Rogers son back in school, & his band played a couple songs off OTTN. & Kenny had this Ibanez Destroyer that was IMO the coolest fucking guitar evar! So I got one....
