Ok... this is buggin' the crap outta me... What do you mean by 'associated'? As in, actually part of, or connected to, the band? Or do you mean that someone completely separate that has the Iommi thing down cold?
...we're not talking about Brian May, are we?

How 'bout connecting Dimebag Darrel to Ted Nugent, without re-spouting all the bullshit from / about Uncle Ted

Well, Dimebag was shot with a gun>Nugent has lots of guns
...nah - that wouldn't be anything I'd be 'associated' with
This is what I came up with: Dimebag > Scott Ian > Perl Aday > Meat Loaf > Ted Nugent

i mean some other dude from some other band who was never in black sabbath but can be traced to them at almost every conceivable point.

Hmm... trying to come up with other guitarists that go clear back to the beginning and had remotely parallel career paths - Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page? Both can be traced to Sabbath - Page > Bonham > Iommi (Bonham was good friend, even best man at wedding, then pissed Dio off by making a crude remark), and Blackmore > Gillen > one of the worst Sabbath lineups.
This is a good one - can't wait to see how it turns out

The obvious answer would be Pantera covering Cat Scratch Fever.

god dammit I already answered

Zakk Wylde was Ozzy's guitarist
Ray Gillen was Sabbath's singer.
Lomenzo played with both.
this may not be THE answer you are looking for but it is A right answer.

Blackmore - Dio, Bobby Rondinelli, and Cozy Powell were all in both Rainbow and Black Sabbath. Jimmy Bain was in Rainbow and Dio. Bob Daisley was in Ozzy's band, Rainbow, and Sabbath. Ian Gillian was in Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Don Airey was in Ozzy's band, Rainbow, Deep Purple, and Sabbath. Glenn Hughes was in Deep Purple, although not at the same time as Blackmore, and was sort of in Sabbath briefly. I've probably missed a couple connections.

Ah, I wasn't 100% on that. For some reason I thought Blackmore bailed before Glover did, I got my wires crossed.
