I have a Quad of =C= 6550's, but I aquired them in a trade. I CAN hear a difference in a =C= and a JJ's , & an EH 6550, but it's a miiscule difference.
I THINK the draw to =C='s , is that they're supposed to be a bit more rugged / will handle the voltages of older amps.
If I had money to throw around, yeah Id buy new ones.
Unfortunantly, nigga's po' , so I get whatever I can afford when the need arises. Ive been known to buy used quads of tubes, just to get me by. If I buy new, EH tubes are just fine. I dont run my shit as hot s I used to, so it's not a big deal to me anymore.
