Here’s an excellent YouTube review of the Brown Custom 20 in a regular headshell (I got the Silver Custom 20 in an oversized headshell, but this will still definitely give you a great view or just how great these things are):

I saw this yesterday when looking for clips.... I like the Silver specifically for the Plexi mode on the crunch channel.... my issue with the Jet City 20 watters has always been their crunch channel always got too raunchy too quickly and there was never any real pushed or edge of break up tones there which is where I like to set my "clean" channels on my amps..... does the Silver Custom get those or is it in the same wheel house as the Brown Custom with getting pretty dirty right away?
The main tone is Plexi, then you flick a switch and you have modded plexi, then you switch channels and you have Silver Jubilee.
Freaking monster of an amp!

I get that and on paper it sounds like the perfect amp for me.... but is the Plexi mode clean or crunchy from the get go?

Clean just like a Plexi

Billy you bought one of the 800’s!!!! Awesome, so did I! Which one did you get? I got the first one (801), but it’s gonna be an oversized headshell looking just like the 20 watt I posted earlier.

Nice man! I got #810. I think I'll also get an oversized headshell later.

Picked up the older bordered logo plate from a seller on eBay. Looks classier:

Tonight added a Mojo fx loop to my 20H. Right after I took the photo I decided to put the 3rd stage bypass cap on a [the red] switch (.68uf / 22uf)
Pretty legit Friedman PT20 clone on the cheap!

Yeah I like it quite a lot in this amp. I had to take it out of the JCA800 because with the added gain stage in proximity to the loop, it was noisy as shit. So went back to a passive loop that it came stock with. Honestly not bad, but deadens the signal just a touch. If I increase the mix on my reverb and delay pedals, it's a decent way to compensate.

Has anyone done elevated heaters in one of these?

There's only need to do this on the original 50w. The other amps do not really benefit from it. Bryce from Epic was doing it on the 50w as one of his mods. I'd contact him and see if he's willing to share the instructions...

The very first one I modded had this deal going. It's 2 manual channels, the first is plexi style the second jcm800 style.

Has anyone done the srv t-filter mod? I'm wondering what you thought about it? Seems kinda bassy to me. I'm wondering if using a cap lower than 22uF would help?
